X1 loaner car

So I got the s28 x1. For a n20 front driver it handles quite well and surprisingly fast. It is quoted as 0-60 in 6.8 on some sites but feels faster to me.

I agree they do feel quicker. The AWD version generally gets 6.3 in 0-60.

Fast in my book, Bob. Would beat a 20i hands down.

Says the tranny is made in Japan while the rest of the car is made in Germany. Must be that the x1 isn't made in SC because it uses a different platform. The tranny isn't a ZF as it is a front drive platform and ZF is for rear drive. Probably sourced from Toyota as the new z4 will be the platform for the new Supra.

I believe the transmission is an Aisin. The X1 and Mini Countryman share the same platform so the two share many similarities. IMO the X1's interior is of better quality and fit and finish.

Looks like Aisin is 30% owned by Toyota.

B46 not N20 engine so a bit quieter at idle

Looks like when the transmission is in S or M the idle speed is raised from ~600 rpm to ~900 rpm to keep the turbo spooled up for quicker launches.
