Need X1 buying advice please
Hi, I own a 2011 BMW 335d and love it. But it won't haul much stuff and I am now living in Denver where it snows...terrible for that.
Just had a x1 for a loaner at the dealership and liked it. Thinking of buying an x1 as a second car. What options, packages, etc should I be looking for and what's the true, out the door price of a 2017 or 2018 with the AWD? Any/all advice appreciated. Thanks! |

Tough question since there are so many variables (region, dealer inventory, ordered or on the lot, etc.) Take a look at some of the pricing sites online to see what a fair price to expect and/or see what others have paid for a similarly equipped vehicle (KBB, TruCar Pricing, etc.). For a very rough estimate, take the MSRP of the car w/desired option package(s) and knock off 7-9% to arrive close to invoice pricing BEFORE any available factory incentives offered at the time. Obviously, any MY'17's still remaining on the dealers lot will be discounted greater than a MY'18. Either way I think you're still in the $40-43K range, especially if you don't go "whole hog" with the options. Try to remember that BMW's are a indulgence, not a "must have".

I agree with Ridin'Dirty's response: "MSRP of the car w/desired option package(s) and knock off 7-9%." It also really depends on the dealership you're at and if you're financing or paying full with cash.
If it'll help, I just purchased my 2018 X1 in San Francisco, CA; major options/packages basically were M Sport, AWD, Navigation and paid in the $41-45K range out the door. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions. |

As mentioned above it’s really going to depend on location and inventory and even time of year.
I just got a MY18 the last few days of 2017 so I got a pretty good price IMO between the dealer and BMW. For a MSRP of $44,845, the dealer was able to take off $4,500 and I got another $4,500 via BMW rebates. I was financing this car too via BMW a financial. Unfortunately I think they were able to be that aggressive because it was end of year. By the way invoice on my car was $42,171. I think you should try to time it with BMW rebates as they come available as the dealer discount is going to generally be pretty consistent. |

Thanks to everyone!
I just took delivery of my 2017 X1 yesterday and got a great deal buying a 4700 mile loaner. There were BMW rebates and dealer discounts plus 0% 60 month financing, so I’m in a loaded car with full warrenty (CPO) for ~$35k...very happy. Now, I just need to find a good place to garage my 2011 335d for the winter.

I just bought a 2018 BMW X1 (mediterranean blue - 5000 miles on it/it was a loaner car) with AWD, Premium and Convenience packages and the sports seats with the CPO warranty (5 years unlimited miles), 3 years standard maintenance (also ding and nick protection), and free inspection and car washes for the life of the car.
Total after taxes came out to ~$38,000. At the time I felt like I negotiated a great price but thinking back on it, I feel like I possibly could have got it down another 2K. Am I overthinking it or do you guys think I got a decent deal? Either way, I'm excited to own my first BMW! |
