It has been an awesome year!

And now time to move on. I've never owned a car for such a short time. Then again, my dealer told me I would dump the M2 in 6 months - and it was one of the few cars I would constantly tell the family "I love this car" upon arriving home.

Yet...
The two doors, the ride, and the rev match, eventually wore on me. All came to a head one weekend when I had to borrow a car since mine only held four people (embarrassing as we have FOUR cars and THREE drivers - but three of the cars only hold four people....)

Long story short, dealers down South had $4K plus $750 loyalty from BMW and I just had to make the move.

So I'm out of here (not really, I'll still be around) - time for a bigger car with four doors.

As I said to a fellow board member - the M2 is like a scalpel - but I just don't need to do surgery that often.

Take care - I love the members on this board - one of the more mature ones out there.

Congrats on the new car...i assume u traded it in for a m3. I think it’s pretty nice. For a daily driver it probably makes hell of a lot more sense...

Just make sure to keep the throttle in sport+ for rev matching disablement.

Good call. The 1M is the keeper between that and the M2. The M3 Sedan is easily the best jack of all trades in the F8X bunch.

If I only had space/room/budget/love for one vehicle it might be an M3 sedan, would just have to decide which version ... E36, E90, or F80.

I was in a similar situation last month looking at a 2018 M2. When I went to the dealership and started running numbers, the 2018 M3 Comp Pack with 6 speed at $11,000 off plus 0% financing was too much to walk away from. The M3 is the finest all-around automobile I have ever owned (after a 2002, E36 3 series, E46 ZHP, E93 M3, F80 M3 DCT w/o comp pack, 228i, and numerous others). It is not the best vehicle I have ever driven, but given 4 doors, manual, comfort, tech, handling, warranty, and safety, it is the best all around car. Congrats on the new purchase!

You scored an amazing deal. The end of December/January were not pretty for the M2 resale and getting $11K off is insane!* Smart move taking it.

*I had to finance through BMWFS to get the $4,750 cash and that meant 3.92%

I don't know why BMWFS rates suck (nor how some ppl managed to get good rates from them). I laughed when they told me 3.31% was the best they could offer back in Sept, then I took it when my credit union was too chicken to finance my ED car before it arrived on US soil. Supposedly you "had" to wait 90 days before refinancing the BMWFS loan but I knew that was nonsense and went to my credit union < 24 hours after I took re-delivery of the car (which was conveniently two days before the second payment to BMWFS was due ).

BMW FS rates don't suck.. your DEALER Financial Services department does.. you are NEGOTIATING with the dealer when you use BMW FS. They will give you better rates if you have excellent credit.. but they can STRAIGHT UP LIE TO YOUR FACE and TELL YOU they are giving you their " BEST RATE" when they really aren't. It allows the finance people to make some extra money off you.

good on you for IMMEDIATELY refinancing.

The F&I guy at most car dealerships probably generates more profit for the dealership than the entire sales dept. You could make a multi-page thread out of their come-on lines, like, "ever curbed a wheel?" when trying to sell tire & wheel insurance. $500 for a can of Scotchguard is more instant profit, as are doo-dads of most any description. And if they can get you to finance that shit, it's doubly profitable.

Here is the quote from mine
"BMW: $3499 for 3 years"
