Poor brakes 2017 xdrive18d auto
Hi Guys,
I’ve had a quick look through the posts and couldn’t find anyone with a similar problem so I guess I’m the first one or maybe the only with this issue. We bought the missus a brand new X1 xdrive18d auto in September 2017 (now has 3k on the clock) and since we’ve had it the brakes have felt like shit to be honest. Almost as if the servo is bad. By now the discs and pads are well and truly bedded in. There is no confidence in braking (lack of bite and spongelike) and I’m often scared wether I’ll get the stopping power I need in local traffic! Definitely not what I was expecting from a premium badged car I paid over £30k for. I’m going to go back to BMW about this but wondered if anyone else had/has the same issue. Many thanks for reading! |

First step: check if brakes are sufficient: drive 60 mph on tarmac and brake hard.
ABS should then operate to avoid lock up. If ABS, you are - more or less- OK. In no working ABS - go to dealer. |

My 25D msport brakes are fine, front pads changed @ 15K, rears @ 19K but I live in a heavy braking town, roundabouts & national speed limits between make for fun runs across town

check your brake pads and discs they could be glazed so won't have the same bite this happens more on automatic cars due to the way they are driven as the brakes are good on the X1 I have.
