Delivery times UK
Just wondering if anybody’s had recent experience with delivery dates in the UK.
I’ve been quoted 14 weeks by the dealer which seems on the long side. I was expecting maybe 8 weeks. The salesman blamed the engine choice - a 18i but even when I configure my X1 using the “buy online Configurator” it also comes with a 14 week timescale no matter what engine/model choice I insert. And this before I even choose my preferred dealer so doesn’t appear dealer quota specific. Is the X1 really that popular? I suppose maybe I’ll just have to learn patience😟. |

Hi Again Pganders.
I ordered my X1 on 12 January as a factory build and was given an estimated build at Week 9 (26 February), with UK delivery around 3 weeks after that time. So hopefully on the road before end of 3/18. As you probably remember, I was looking for the sDrive 1.8i xLine, plus a few options. The salesman emailed me earlier today to say he expects to have a VIN number in a couple of weeks, which fits in with the timescale and, if it works out that way, will be around 8-9 weeks from order to delivery. A near neighbour took delivery of an X1 1.8i Sport less than 2 weeks ago from the same dealership. I had suggested he should approach them and they found one in transit to the UK that he was happy to accept, so the salesman just had to arrange a dealer 'swap'. He previously had a 3 Series and says he is delighted with the three pot petrol engine! Hope that helps. Interesting how you managed to get the anticipated build week from the website. I seem to be wholly reliant on the dealership, but wonder if UK car build stages can be tracked online by the purchaser when the VIN has been allocated. I don't altogether rate the BMW UK website and hope the in-car technology wasn't put together by the same 'team'! Last edited by oakey46; 02-14-2018 at 02:12 PM.. |

Hi Oakley,
That’s encouraging and I suspect and hope the dealer is using this as an “incentive” to get an order placed!! And I too hope the cars are better put together than their website technicians which from recent experience leaves something to be desired!! |

Click on build your BMW, then configure, go to summary, click on next steps and choose buy online. The summary at right hand side gives you estimated delivery date. It’s probably fairly generic and dependant on a number of factors. Interestingly just playing round with it and configured a 1 Series and it comes up as between 12-14 weeks, compared to 14 weeks for the X1 so it does in fact appear model dependent. |

You may have been lucky that there was a dealer stock order matching your requirements. If that was the case, your order would have overridden the stock vehicle production. If so, lucky you!

yeah they had a chassis already in the queue, it’s was more of an alteration to an existing order. He did say if I wasn’t going for a 20d auto things would of been different too. The wait on the petrol engines would of been longer than the diesels, so he said anyways

I’m suspecting that we’re maybe starting to feel the impact of dieselgate and the manufacturers have not been able to gear up in time with additional petrol engine production.
Were my driving style different a diesel would have suited and indeed looking at the in stock offers could have been obtained at a substantial discount over petrol. |

My X1 reached stage 5500 yesterday (28 Feb), which is Assembly Complete. Next stage is Transfer to Distribution and the dealer says it should be with them week commencing 19 March, or possibly sooner.
X1 transits by rail from BMW Regensburg assembly plant to port (Bremerhaven, Germany) for shipping to Humberside UK and then on to BMW Distribution Centre at Thorne near Doncaster (adjacent to M18 Motorway), Yorkshire. From there it has its PDI prior to delivery to dealer. |

Interestingly another dealer told me that BMW would be stopping production for an undefined period after June to allow for revised emissions testing to meet new EU regulations and as a result if I didn't place my order then delivery could be pushed out beyond September. Now whether or not this was just a sales tactic I don't know but in the end he didn't get the order due to not returning my calls. |

Hi there. If you can obtain the 7 digit VIN code from your dealer and input it to www.bimmer.work you should be able to see if the car is built yet. Your dealer should also give you details of the build stage the car has reached (you can see the explanations below if you simply have a set of numbers from him - although these may not be fully up to date).
5100 Bodyshop Start 5190 Bodyshop Complete 5200 Paintshop Start 5270 Paintshop Complete 5300 Pre-Assembly Start 5400 Assembly Start 5500 Assembly Complete 6000 Transfer to Distribution 8200 Released to Carrier 9000 Departed Plant 9605 PreEU Port of Exit 9615/35/45 In Storage 9610/20/30/40/50/60 In Transit 9800 Arrived Dealer As at the end of last week, mine was at 9605 Pre EU Port of Exit and is due at the dealership sometime next week (i.e. week commencing 19Mar18) Incidentally, it seems X1s built after 1 March 2018 with a petrol engine (including the 18i (1.5Ltr 3 cylinder) may be fitted with a Gasoline Particle Filter. Apparently it is designed to reduce particle output, but works more efficiently on a petrol engine because the exhaust requires less time for the engine to reach optimum operating temperature. From what I can see, all cars in the EU have to have this from 1 September 2018 (I'm unaware if it will be the same worldwide). |

I wonder is this the “ZO2 Model Year CO2 Change” no cost option shown on my order form that I had to accept when placing my order? |

Just keep fingers crossed that I picked up incorrect info! But mine has a different code for the CO2 (1CB - Co2 Content).

I ordered an x1 xline 2.0 petrol in May. Its now August and I've not yet had any estimated delivery date!
The garage don't seem to know anything. From my own digging I see that there are some new emission targets that EU cars have to have by Sept 2018. I think bmw have frozen manufacture until the emission targets are met and passed. I think petrol is hit worst |
