Good call I just bought a blinder M25 laser jammer for my wife car and got it installed today. I plan on buying a laser interceptor for my M3 along with a V1 radar detector. I am going to put on 4 head units 2 in the front and 2 mounted on a Hamann rear spoiler for the rear. I will have it done buy a car stereo place and not do it myself because this is what is recommended . If you have not purchased one yet they are on sale for $100.00 off this is the site. laserinterceptorusa.com and by the way you will need to open or have a paypal account to purchase this .

I'm involved in the same GB, but these units have not shipped out yet. My plan is to (hopefully) follow this thread http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131151 using the front fog switch to turn the LI on/off. I'll resort to a relay powered by the front fog if needed, but I am hopeful that I can avoid doing so

Yeah, i wish i can relay the power to the front fog button, but i am not very familiar with electrics so i probably wont mess around with it yet. I will hold on to the installation until next week, when i got a chance. And i will try make a DIY for you guys.

Talking Sorry Guys I just got a laser jam story to tell you

Sorry ShadeM3 I just wanted to tell a laser jam story that just happened
Now I live on a military base in El Paso, Tx Fort Bliss
I just got my wife a blinder M25 yesterday and I got to test it out and get a little revenge I have a Beltronic STi driver radar detector and before I got the blinder I told my wife if the military police shoot her car with a laser 3 different times I was going to buy a blinder and jam their gun. Well 3 strikes later and I got a blinder. Now on the 3rd time I got shot with the laser gun the military police guy in the passenger seat with the gun kept shooting the car with the laser as they drove by and he was laughing as he was shooting the gun at the car. Well I took that as a insult and I wanted revenge and today I got it. I saw the military police car sitting side ways off the road so he can see all the car going by in different direction. I drove down the road doing the speed limit and when I got in is sight of view the laser jammer went off letting me know I was being shot, now you normally are suppose to cut off the jammmer but I did not and I drove buy him and the look on his face was priceless he had a WTF look on his face checking out his laser gun and I laugh all the way back to work now that's what I call sweet revenge.
I can't wait to get my LI

Glad to see someone has tested the M25. I have an M45. I would imagine the LI will install much the same, though.

So, I was looking over my M45 yesterday thinking about installing it. I honestly don't want to have to drill monster holes through the firewall to install it, and honestly it looks like it's over my head anyway. But, is there any way through the firewall that is accessible without pulling the motor out? I don't know how BMW manages to have such small clearances. My E46 was tight, but this takes it to a whole new level.

Finally got my LI, but I cannot find a good spot to pass the sensor cables through the firewall. Has anyone done this yet? I would like to pass through the driver's side but the M3 is really buttoned up with bits of plastic and rubber everywhere - you can't even see the firewall without ripping half the car apart... or so it seems...

TIA!

The power from the front fog switch can not be rewired as it will only allow your LI to work when the headlight system is engaged aka ight time or if you light to turn on your head lights at all times.

However I have a solution for it and will be posting it as part of the DIY. I will set up a install kit for the custom switch.

Yeah, I figured that out - thanks! I ended up finding a path through the firewall. It was a PIA but basically I removed both microfilter housings (3 hex screws each) and then the entire underlying plastic assembly underneath them (just 2 hex screws). With this removed you can see the area on the driver's side underneath the DSC hydraulic control module. Way down there is a sizable wiring harness that passes through the firewall in a large rubber seal. I then removed the driver's side foot well cover (3 Torx screws). I pushed an oversized hex driver in the roughly 1/4" "condom" in the rubber seal and them pulled the condom into the passenger compartment, turning it inside out. I them cut the end off with wire cutters and pushed a coat hanger through the new hole. Pushing the coat hanger up over the brake assemblies allowed me to tape the Cat 5 cables on the engine compartment side and pull them through the firewall. After messing with a bunch of different locations I ended up putting the CPU housing way up against the outer wall above the dead pedal. I decided against the fog light switch and instead used the included round switch. The switch is mounted to the foot well cover and is not visible at all, but still easy to find and operate.

I mounted the transmitter units bubble up between the (almost) outer most kidney grill openings. Ideally the bubble should be at the bottom but due to the slope of the grills doing so would have caused the non-bubble end to protrude from the grill too much and I couldn't get over the poor aesthetics. Bubble up seemed like a good compromise to me. As far as attachment I used double-sided foam tape on both sides of the transmitter. The transmitters fit snuggly - we'll see if the adhesive holds up.

When the sun rises again I'll post a few pics

Yes, I only have the two head unit. I thought I'd post a pic or two by now but I'm traveling the country and haven't had time to do it justice yet
