Drive of X2 M Sport 190 bhp diesel, AWD.

Drive performed during 50 km around Trollhättan on - partly - icy roads.

Pros:
-better looking in flesh than on pics
-good handling at normal driving incl. on ice.
-responsive, fairly silent engine.
-gearbox as good as my ZF.

Cons:
-somewhat cramped interior
-somewhat small door opening: winterjacket and- shoes.
-IP a bit messy - less appealing than my X4.
-slight understeer at hard acceleration on ice- not so at "normal" acceleration. Non-studded Blizzacs- very good tires.

All in all, a bit disappointing. I will still wait for M35i, but also monitor release of upcoming Audi SQ4 (320 bhp) and MB-AMG GLA 35 (320- 340bhp)

Q3 is out - totally uninspiring. There is no way Q4 can turn the tide. Fat chance upcoming MB AMG GLA 35 will be priced out of reach.

Still waiting for M35i - now a little more positive.

I had a look at the X1 a few weeks ago and was also surprised by how cramped the interior feels. Elbow room in the rear is noticeably less than in my 2017 Skoda Fabia which is physically a smaller car. The centre console and instrument cluster already look 3-5 years old.

These short comings are big downers when the exterior is so good looking. The 3/4 quarter view is the best of any BMW. I love the rear tail light design.

Audi will unveil the Q3 in the next few months. However it's a more traditional small SUV than the X2, which in all fairness, is a road biased crossover with a low seating position. If you like one, you might not like the other.

Watching Giro d`Italia, I realised how good looking the Alfa Stelvio is. There is a 280 bhp petrol version in Ferrari red.

Checking roadtests, it has got good reviews. Dealer is a bit away, so I will wait til M35i is presented and do a comparism. Fiat/Alfa is not known for good quality (Fix It Again Tony), bur two years in, it should be OK.

I forgot: unlike X2, Stelvio is RWD-biased
