Gotta warn you that the 566’s are not fun to keep clean. Wish I had the 568’s. :/

I have the 566 wheels and having bought a couple of circular detailing brushes I find cleaning a lot easier.

I have the 566's but would have preferred the 570M's if they were available when I ordered mine. They were only available in the 19" size:

All the 18s look pathetic IMO and make the car look cheap. Upgrade to the 19s, trust me.

In what way? Quality of tire is everything, ditch the junk run flats.

vote for 566 here. I think they suit the xline trim and silver colour really well. Cleaning is a bit tricky but you get yourself a detailing brush and it becomes a piece of cake.
PS: make sure you put on non-runflats.

Why junk the RFT? Is it because noisier or is there any other reason?

All the X1s I've seen with 18s look like they just rolled off the Enterprise lot. Stick with those 18s though, your choice.

Less noise and way better ride.

Yep...the choice of many/most people in the UK.
There is no point in dumping the Run Flats and then going to 19" wheels with standard rubber because the sidewalls are narrower and hence transmit noise.
Stay with 18" wheels with standard rubber is the best compromise. BMW UK does not sell new X1s with Run Flats anymore. They are not on the build/specification options list.

The road surface makes a hell of a lot of difference when it comes to road noise. Around the Oxford ring road (UK A34), they have changed the surface of the road to a different tarmac and there is a tremendous difference. The new surface really does make a difference with it being a lot quieter.
