New Rims Question

First, I am new to these forums. I drive a 2005 330ci w/ performance package (Drove the 2003 sedan version before that). I ordered a 08 335i coupe with sports package that is scheduled to be completed this week and delievered by the end of July.

I have always been in love with the rims on both my coupe and my sedan, always been a fan of M rims.

With the 335i I ordered, there were sadly no rims that looked any were near as good as my current rims. As I have always stuck with the oem rims on my cars, I have never done any research on rim manufactors before today. I did some research on these forums and others forums to get a feel for some good brands and concluded that BBS and OZ make some good rims. Unfortunetly, I haven't seen a set of BBS or OZ rims I like.

I have seen several replica M rims I thought looked great through out the forums, but never saw any of the replica manufactors described as having the same quality as say a BBS or OZ. So, I was wondering if I could get some more suggestions for quality manufactors that I could check out with rims in the $300-$500 range 19' with OEM or better quality.

Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks Man

Any suggestions? For some reference here is a link to my current wheels

http://almisauto.com/images/05_330i22/55.jpg

I really like the whole no actual "rim" look. Just where the spoke goes right up to the tire. Any suggestions?

The quality between OEM & aftermarket is always a subject of debate. As long as the wheels you are buying have passed JWL/VIA/TUV requirements, there should be no reason that quality is not equivalent.

For the replica wheel manufacturers, I like Velocity Motoring http://www.velocitymotoring.com and Miro http://www.altwheels.com - they both make wheels that fall within your budget & quality requirements.

I am hesitant about only relying on a wheel just passing JWL/VIA/TUV requirements. I would prefer a stong history of quality. I am willing to pay a little extra for the best car, and I want to do the same with the rims.

I have looked into both these brands and have read both good and bad things. They make me a little nervious to be honest.

Your concern is understandable. Keep in mind that OEM or even a company like BBS, will have wheels that develop problems. I have an old post that references a SSR forged wheel that cracked under normal use.

I dunno if you've considered Morr Alloys but they have a group buy going on http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147001 - you can also PM Carlos Morr if you have questions about the wheels.

CSLs are classic wheels. They are very popular. These M6 reps are pretty popular as well.

Did you like anything from www.BBS.com?

I think the reps are good quality but if you want the name brand and a higher end wheel I totally feel ya.

Here are some of the BBS options

BBS CH Silver 19 x 8.5 $459 19 x 9.5 $479

BBS CH Black 19 x 8.5 $495 19 x 9.5 $513

BBS CM 19 x 8.5 $540 19 x 9.5 $565

BBS CX 19 x 8.5 $540 19 x 9.5 $565

Wicked, I did see the post about the cracked SSRs (and by cracked i mean one pot hole away from falling a part) when I was researching last night, pretty sure I read every post on these forums with the work replica, quality, manufactor and etc

From what I read, i got the feeling that it part how you drive your car and part the quality of your rims, I am just trying to limit the rim quality unknown while finding a tire I really like and in my budget. If I could find A BBS or OZ I liked a little a bit, I would jump on them, but no luck. Hence I am looking for more suggestions on quality rim makers to look into.

Kenny, yea i really do like the m5 and m6 replicas. They look amazing and fit well with an overall BMW feel.

Supreme, actually looked at everyone of those rims on tire rack and spent some time searching the forums for some 335i with them, any of the ones I did find, I didnt like them at all. It felt like they were pushing way to far out of the fender and looked very aftermarket. They look good, but dont look like bmw rims to me.
