Tune Discussion
So, now that I have my gorgeous M2, thinking about an engine tune. I know that this will run the gamut, as everybody has a different idea of what they want/need. Me, I'm just looking for an engine flash to boost HP up closer to 400. Looking at the Dinan Stage 1 flash that takes it to 383 HP with 400+ torque. Anybody have it, feedback? I know Dinan is good, but plan on owning this car long term, any concerns about reliability, warranty?

I had the Dinan stage 1 piggyback on the F10 535ix. Also an N55 engine. It did add some power and was great as a highway cruiser: always enough power to overtake.
What I didn't enjoy was the heaviness and crappy handling of the F10 even with AC Schnitzer suspension. After 5 years the motor had some pitting and scratches on the camshaft and cam bearings. It's doubtful Dinan had anything to do with that but we will never know for sure. I bought the car when it was just over a year old. Maybe the guy who leased it never did a first oil change. |

I sold my M2 but still own a 135IS with the same engine. Try the MHD tune. is 200$. However, you need your ECU unlocked and that is going to cost you $495. With downpipes you wold be close to 400hp.

OP, I was in your position a few months ago waiting for my car. I researched a bunch of tunes but I didn't want to go too crazy. I asked around and many people discouraged me from Dinan as it's very expensive and the warranty is the only advantage you might get (debatable how important it is).
Right now I have the car for about a month, I put BM3 stage 1 flash tune, KW lowering springs and I'm super happy. I have the extra power kick and better cornering without compromising comfort. I am also considering catted downpipe but I wouldn't say it's a must to get the max of this awesome car. |

Hi,
Dinan is a good option ... It will offer the power you are looking for and you can remove it at anytime

Dinan blows, get BM3 or any other “comparable” flash tune for better performance AND a much cheaper price. Piggybacks are meh imo. Consider how easy it is to flash these new tunes with OBD Unlock, it’s a must!
FYI Dinan numbers are on 93 octane only AND are advertised AT THE CRANK! Not at the wheels. |
