Supersprint X-pipe

I have been considering getting the Supersprint X-pipe without the resonators and connecting it to the other OEM sections.

1-do you guys think that the fitment will work without sawing anything?

2-how do you think this will affect overall sound?

3-what is the difference between the black steel and the stainless steel listed on their site?

4-Is there any reason that this is a bad idea?

1- You will need to cut the stock pipes unless you purchase the full header back SS exhaust system.

2-The sound is amazing when removing the Secondary cats and resonators. It might be too loud for some.

3- No clue. Send SS an email

4- If you’re ok with a loud car then go for it. I also heard that SS make a resonated X-pipe for Hamann. That might be better for daily driving.

1 - You can connect the SS x-pipe to the front oem section (the one w/4-cats) w/o hacking anything since it's just a bolt-on but not sure if it'll bolt-on directly to the oem axle-back muffler (I think it will)

2 - If you're replacing just the x-pipe section & nothing else then it'll obviously sound louder but not sure how much louder. Might as well save up a little longer & get an aftermarket axle-back while you're at it but that's just me.

3 - Not sure either

4 - It'll be louder if you like that

The one you linked originally was just the U.S. distributor's (BMP Design) website. There are much more info/products on SS's direct website:

i just want my car to get a little louder and retain the stock exhaust note. This is why i have been considering this option instead of an axle back setup. I have even thought of doing the hi flow cats and the x pipe w/o resonator, and connecting that to the stock rear section.

european car mag is publishing a flow test of all of the sections of the e92 M3's exhaust. This should show where the most restrictive sections are.

Is this the current issue on newsstand? If yes then I'm going to Barnes & Nobles later today.

i have the July issue, which is the first in the 3 part series. I have yet to recieve the 2/3 issue.

Let me know what you guys think about the article.

THey say that they put the "flow testers" in 4 places...primary cats, secondary cats, resonator, and muffler. The article goes on to say something about the restriction in the first position meaning that the M3 is a good candidate for headers....How do they know the restriction is in the headers and not the primary cats? am i missing something? please share your thoughts...

Has anyone else done this or experimented with just swapping out x-pipes and/or resonator sections?

I would like slightly louder than stock but not too loud and would prefer to not drop $3,000 just to get a little more volume and flow, but not a full race sound.

On my Cayenne Turbo I did a Fabspeed secondary cat bypass pipe for like $500 and it sounds simply amazing. Just slightly louder than stock at idle, maybe 20% louder but about 50% lounder at WOT and it sounds nasty as hell. In mid range rpms it is just a bit throatier but not much louder.

Get the full exhaust system. You wont be dissapointed....

I did and i love it.

I have a non resonated X pipe, it´s a bit loud, but i love the engine sound.

Here you have my thread about this if you want to take a look.

Since I don't like starting too many new threads... I'll bump this one with my question:

What do you guys think of the Supersprint Xpipe in comparison to the Challenge Sport or Gintani with HFC+resonators?

I do not want to go catless... the smell is unbearable for me.
I don't know if I want to do a full system yet... I want the increased power, a little increased sound, and no no no drone. I'm not the type that likes the exhaust that can be heard from miles ahead. I'm fine with down the street

So I was looking at this:
http://www.supersprintna.com/product...earch_model/87

and combing it with their cats.

My other question is... are they seriously expected to get $4k for their HFC Xpipe with resonators? That's crazy....

Anyways...one main reason I'm considering it is that I may be able to get a slightly used one for a really good price...

Thanks for your input

The difference between X pipes is really going to be limited to fitment and quality. Supersprint makes a nice product, Ive had a couple myself. Their HFC parts are always a little expensive, cant do much about it. But, if you can buy used, go for it.

This won't work. The X pipe is designed to connect directly to the connecting pipes used with either the Sport mufflers or the Street muffler. If you don't want to use the X pipe, you use the short connecting pipes in addition to the ones that come with the mufflers, to connect to the stock X pipe.

You'd have to cut the stock X pipe and the stock mufflers and try to figure out some way to connect the stock connecting pipes to the SS x pipe. I doubt this will work without some welding, given that the stock connecting pipes are hydro formed and not round.

Would it be worth more than a Challenge or a Gintani?

Cause the seller seems to want about 1800 for it...

The resonated X pipe alone is not worth that much. The X pipe with high flow cats, I would say thats worth it.
