New M2 Questions

Got her yesterday. Wife hates the color...LBB. She has me disliking the color now! Kids love though...
Bypassed the ASD. I have the stock exhaust and it is still loud enough to be embarrassing! Whoever said that they put the ASD back on because it is too quiet must be deaf! This car sounds "grumpy"!
Questions:
- Stick shift feels like the transmission runs through it. Lots of vibration. Is this normal.
- There is a lot of clutch chatter and engagement is lumpy. Not that easy to do a smooth takeoff. Normal?
- The engine is pretty lumpy, especially at idle. It runs rough. Feels like it is over tuned. My JCW with a piggyback tune at almost 300HP was smoother. Maybe they have it setup rich for break-in? It is almost challenging to drive.
Thanks in advance.

Wait... you got the wife yesterday? Too late to return her?

jk...

Congrats! Long Beach Blue looks stunning! I'm expecting to get my M2 this Thursday or, if it arrives at the dealership too late on Thursday for them to prep it, Friday! Can't wait!

Mine is the Mineral Gray, but the Blue, especially outdoors in bright sunlight looks fantastic!

Enjoy your new ride!

My engine was as smooth as butter at delivery. Something maybe wrong. It could just be bad gas. I would have service look at it though.

My wife doesn’t like LBB either, so I got alpine white.

Doesn't sound right to me. I bought mine with 1200 miles on the clock though and the RIS done.

Engine is super smooth as you'd expect. No clutch chatter. No vibration through the gearstick. The clutch does take a little getting used to for a nice smooth getaway.

I've seen clutch chatter mentioned on another thread and it surprised me to be honest.

LBB is a great colour!

Should have listened - I will never really be able to enjoy cleaning the car now.....Will discuss with service.

Dealer is saying that all M2's are lumpy on take off and the vibration in the gear lever is normal. I find that hard to believe. I am having problems with phone and volume on the callers side. Can't get the email to display either....OMG I hope this is not a lemon.

Is there another dealer you could take it to?

Agreed. This seems weird. Mine is smooth as silk since day 1.

I do not have similar issues. Here is the clutch chatter thread for reference: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1478107

Think that is good advice. It is just that there seem to be a number of issues...

The stock clutch engagement point is bad.

Get a BMS clutch stop and never look back

Blasphemy!! How can anyone dislike LBB? It just looks so good...

It's the chrome. Chrome is your enemy...it should be banished from the Earth. Well from the M2 at least...

As far as the engine/transmission...mine is smooth, no issues. I did have an F30 (335i) during the 4 years proceeding this car...same engine, same transmission...so maybe I'm just used to it. BMS clutch stop does reduce the clutch travel.

Get it past break-in...then you won't even notice the colour!

Mine was like this for the 1st 200 miles ran a bit lumpy and lots of vibration through the Gear stick clutch was aufull felt slower than my Audi s3 kept thinking I bought the wrong car I’m now on 380 miles and it just gets better and better no more vibration and it gets off the line superbly showed it some corners on Sunday night and my god the thing is excellent no need to panic just put a few miles on it and a lot of shell v power 😂😂

Any chance they have another M2 you can test drive, to compare it to? Doesn't sound right... I rented an M2 twice, and it was very smooth.

This thing gets worse. So when I first release the clutch in 1st very slowly there is a noticeable shudder in the transmission. You can hear it. Also I have the rear seats down and you can hear this kind of crunching grinding sound from the diff.
Other than these problems the car is on rails it is so easy to throw around corners that I get the whole "why I bought it" thing. Fabulous.....except for the other stuff!

Seems like the car idles a bit rougher in Sport+ than say comfort where it's very smooth, but other than that no.

No vibration on mine and . Maybe give it more gas than you are use to? In first gear? Should be pretty smooth.

How could she hate the color? It's actually the only "color" that you can get.

Don't get me wrong, the monochromatic palette look good on this whip, but as far as color...

Something wrong with your car. This is the smoothest idling car i've ever owned. There is a tad bit of clutch chatter when the car is cold.

Only useful advice I can think of is to drive another MT stock and compare.
