Price For Tpms To Be Removed?
just got off the phone with my local dealer's service dept.
guy told me they wanted $380 to dismount RFT's, remove TPMS and remount tires. Then as I said... "hahaha, thats more than a set of sensors" he calmly assured me by saying "well actually, the sensors run about $80-$90 per unit so it's about the same price". ???????????????????????? WHAT THE HELL??? I told him I could get a set for $180 bucks and he laughed and said "yeah, if you think they'll work" .... like I'd be buying some used stereo equipment off the back of a truck. anyone have a ballpark of what I SHOULD be paying to have the tpms removed and tires remounted (don't care if they are rebalanced)? I'm gonna call around to some tire places but I'm curious what others have paid for the same services. |

PSHHHHH... 1st place I called.
"$10 bucks a piece to unmount, take out, replace valve stems and remount". WHY DOES BMW LOVE TO OVERCHARGE FOR SERVICE???? |

Now thats a DEAL right there. I dont think you can get much cheaper than that. Good Find!! I was going to take mine off and switch them to my CSLs that are coming in, but i just told Hubert to go ahead and install a new set in ($150). I think i will save a few bucks just going with a new set instead and having to dismount 2 sets and rims and tires and remount..

I've been shopping wheels and they said they can get them off without taking the entire wheel off and it was $15 per wheel to swap to the new set.
I just about the TPMS and not going to worry about it. |

Keep in mind, though, that if you remove the TPM sensors, the wheels/tires that you removed them from will need to be re-balanced, otherwise they will be significantly out of balance. My tire guy charged me $50 to break down, remove the sensors, and road-force balance. But he's a good guy that gets quite a bit of business from me.

So Where Can I Get the Sensors For $150.00?
Where can I buy these Sensors other than at the dealer?

naaa... the A/S i want have great snow reviews (better than my oem RFT's which got me around just fine last winter) so I'm gonna try to go that route if i can sell the 16's. better that way too since i do a decent amount of HWY driving to chicago... i dont want super noisey winters if there is no snow on the ground.

The Dunlop Wintersport M3 are fairly quiet for highway driving. I drove 6000 miles total on them this past winter and they were great.
Which A/S are you thinking? Since you have the option of not going to class in the middle of a storm, you should be fine. Worse case, you can still take the bus to school

When I was a TA, we'd see kids skip class all the time in the winter.

yeah she said her lectures that have like 200 people in them get that a lot... sometimes she's like 1 of 4 people who actually show up during the winter days when the snow is bad.

I taught BIO/ZOO/BOT 151/152 for two years in Madison and attendance was generally poor in most lectures.
