Can anyone confirm if the 6 speed manual shifter knob will be illuminated?

I am surprised no lighted shift knob. You can get a lighted seat and lighted door exit thingies .. but you can't get a shift lighted shift knob like they had on an E30...

This m2 m Performance knob is illuminated but you have to splice it to power as per official instructions.

Picture is for m3 but it's available for m2 as well with blue stitching. Pricey though.

Any chance you have the instructions? Was going to splice into the comfort/sport switch but am curious as to what bmw suggests for this knob. I'm just installing an m5 knob

Exactly. If you don't know where your shift knob is in the dark, you shouldn't drive a manual.

I don't have the instructions sorry.
My parts guy found this part when I was researching shorter knobs for mine. I still have and like the original just wish it was a little shorter with less throw.
The illumination is not important to me personally though.

Do the M3 or M5 knobs fit? It should be trivial to find power and wire it up. If the boot is a problem maybe it's possible to add an LED into the existing knob assembly. You only need an LED and a resistor.

Alike the brief beep you used to hear when you put the car in reverse on an E46 M3 or illuminated ring around the cigarette lighter: BMW dropped those features. Nowadays a logo lighting up in the upper part of the front seats matters big time for BMW.
