Will the S55 have a different character in the M2CS?
So when I was looking to replace my 2016 Cayman S I test drove many models including the M2 and the M4. I am very sensitive to turbo lag and found both the M2 and M4 manual displayed obvious turbo lag. The M4 definitely felt faster. But it sounded worse...much worse.
I love the look of the M2 and its compact dimensions, so the M2CS has me intrigued...but I do wonder if the S55 will be essentially the same or will it be tweaked for the M2CS...specifically will it sound better and have less lag? |

I think the consensus is it will sound slightly better. As for being tweaked, it's clearly the exact same S55, just electronically limited as seen in their specs document.

I would expect that the S55 in the M2C will behave exactly like it does in my almost 4 year old M4 M-DCT.If it is better ,I will be thrilled but I have lived quite happily with my M4 for 120000 kms with quite a few track days in that mileage.

I expect the S55 in the M2C will behave pretty much like any other S55...however, the fact that peak torque starts 500 rpm later in the M2C (2350 vs. 1850), the perception of turbo lag may be reduced a bit.
