ConnectedDrive debugging
Howdy. I'm a new BMW X1 owner, and after rather too much drama, finally got our X1 delivered last week.
One problem: It appears none of the ConnectedDrive stuff works (Carplay, Realtime traffic, Remote Services). It's not even showing up in the menus. Any way of debugging this? The dealer is being difficult, and I want to have a better idea before doing the 100 mile drive back there. |

I'm not sure it's the same in the US, but in the UK there's a BMW ConnectedDrive web portal you can create a login for, and once you're in there you can see what services you are subscribed to, and which car(s) you have added to that account.
It might be worth checking that things like the Remote Services show up in that portal... The actual linking process can be done from the BMW Connected mobile app via USB to the car. There are some guides on the web once you're logged in. |

Well, finally got someone from BMW to call, and they had the system send a "refresh" to the car, and mosty everything now seems to be working now except:
1. The ConnectDrive store in the car just errors out (no big deal, can't see myself needing that), and 2. No CarPlay (supposed to have it, but debugging this isn't my top priority) |

I was going to say seems like report services didn't get properly setup for the car. Have you run a test of pressing the emergency button in the car to finish that setup? If that doesn't work either I'd say you've got some sort of SIM / Cellular issue.
In the US I find that about once a month ARRRTI is down for me for several hours where I won't get traffic after starting the car, or traffic will disappear mid trip. Since it's not frequent enough, reproducible and often early on weekends like 6-8am on Saturday I've been attributing it to system maintenance. You've got the newer navi system (swoon) so maybe yours will be more reliable. |

The spec sheet for the car and the invoice have 6CP on it, so the car should have CarPlay, but it doesn't show up when connecting a new device. Connected Store gives a generic "An Error has Occured" message. The Connected Website doesn't show anything about CarPlay. Wondering if this is something I can have a different dealer look at as a warranty issue (Tulley of Manchester is about 1/3 the distance as the dealer we bought it from, and has weekend hours as well). Aside from that, the new Navigation system is pretty nice. |

Connected Drive website in the US sucks, doesn't appear to have most of the options our european pals have. For example there is NOTHING about maps :-/
I've used the newer nav system in the X5 and it's very nice, biggest benefit over my 2016 model is it's faster IMO. |

Logging In
Ive had my X1 for a couple of weeks and couldnt get anything to work for BMWconnected for a few days. After literally going through every menu, I found that you actually have to log in (in your car) to the system. Once I did that, everything showed up. I supposedly have CarPlay as well but I dont have an iPhone so I cant test that. I will say that for my Android phone, I "can" get Spotify to show up but it only works sometimes. Super frustrating!!

I purchased a 2018 X1 and I had the same issues. Turns out there was a software glitch affecting X1 purchases between 4/18/2018 and 5/19/2018. It's been fixed for all new purchases (ESA activations) and a fix will be pushed out to other affected cars in the next week.
My dealer was scrambling to figure out what happened since I bought the car with certain options solely for CarPlay. |

Yeah, when I got mine back in Feb, the first day my CarPlay and Connected drive weren't working correctly. The next day I took it in to get looked at and it seemed that Apple Car Play wasn't even installed. So they had to take my car in for a day and gave me rental while they fixed/installed/refreshed everything. It was pretty frustrating, and now it seems a bit glitchy from time to time also.
