Does anyone have any tips on how to lift back up the subframe?
I just had my turbos rebuilt and I finished installing them on my 2009 X drive model but I'm stick trying to lift back up the subframe since I only dropped it and didn't remove it.
I can't seem to find much on this. Does anyone have some tips? Pictures ect...

I had my car up on jack stands and used a motorcycle lift to press the subframe back up into place. Start the front bolts with the dowel pins first. Also be careful not to lift the car off the stands when you lift the subframe, remember the subframe is probably only 100 pounds or so,

I don't have a motorcycle jack but that definitly would have helped. I tried to lift with my knees and arms and it worked some, but I couldn't screw the bolts on plus I have a feeling it's alot more than 100lbs since everything is still connected to ir. I guess I forgot to mention I'm doing this by myself so no extra pair of hands. Maybe I'll have to use two jacks.

It's tricky to do it solo, I've done it twice. A jack will work fine, but be really careful not to lift the car as you lift the subframe into place. It helps to remove the rotors, assuming you left the control arms and steering knuckles attached.

Two jacks on the subframe. One in front one in back. Should go in no problem. Worked fine for me both times with the subframe completely removed.

Thanks guys. I actually got it done this moring. I left everything on, control arms and all. I actually used wood and a single jack. Suprisingly it worked out well. The wood was two feet long and it lifted it up evenly. So i lifted it in the middle, once the motor mounts reached the engine mounts I put the screws on them (loose) then i did some more lifting and I after some shifting and frustrations i was able to shift it the way i wanted and then I as able to get one bolt in a little bit (the smaller ones in the rear) then i lifted the jack up slowly and the one bolt helped line it up and then i notice the right side all lined up, threw on the other two bolts (not tight) then shifted back to the other side of the car and put the bolt in there. Then i tightened them up and torqued them down to bmw specs.
It was definitly a chore. If i ever have to do it again I'm going to build a square out of wood to go around all the corners and one in the middle to lift it with the jack that way it goes up evenly and smooth.
