Have done some searching and found mushy answers, or answers limited to when the car first came out, but now that the M550i has been out for a while, I have a quick question.

Do you need to secure an allocation for the M550i like the M3/4/5? Basically are dealers limited to X or 0 allocations a month like real M cars for ED, or are M550i allocations treated like every other car for ED purposes, meaning they are super easy to get?

My dealer in Fort Worth told me they had 2 M550i allocations per month when I got mine (Jan 18 order, March 18 delivery). I'm not sure if that includes ED. I was told on an earlier purchase that ED did lot come out of the dealers regular allocation, but can't verify that...

Finally spoke to my guy at BMW who just came back from vacation. He says that allocations for these cars are the same as M in the sense that it comes out of their allocation but it is easier to get than say an M4 or M5

Yes - My 8th car from Autobahn. And I live about 5 hours away - every interaction with them has been a pleasure. Can't say that about all BMW dealerships...
