there is no seat heating adjustment in menu on e9x series, this is feature of the 5-er and 7-er cars

For E60, you have to go into the CIC and change HVAC_POPUP_SEATCLIMATE to aktiv and HVAC_SEATHEAT_DISTR_FOND to aktiv. I'm not sure if it's the same for E90 (although it should be as the general firmware/prog files are the same). Check your TRC file for those two lines and make the changes. Report back if it works!

please understand that by electrical scheme of the seats in e90 there is almost nothing you can adjust in seat heating settings
drivers side seat (if seat with memory options) can have CAN bus but passenger seat in e90/e91 have seat module which only accept PWM signal
only when you have e92, e93 and e81 e88 you have both seats with electical module and may be can set different heat intesity for seat and backrest heaters
so there is no any such menu in e9x

please understand that if you can enable some menu on cic business does not mean that you have hardware to support this functionality
if you pay more attention to pictures on that screen you can see that headrest image is same as e70 e71 confort seat headrest
this headunit (CIC Business) also was installed on X5 X6 2010-2013 MY and since these car can have comfort seats , on these seats is possible to adjust heating of the seat and backrest

Why not just use the normal seat heater buttons?

If someone can figure out how to code this, why not?

The question is, does it do anything more than what the normal on/off controls do?

That said, there ARE options available in coding to change the default temperatures of the seats heaters, so if this permits user control directly it will be a welcome modification.
