So this happened to my X1

So this happened on my commute home from work. Was t-boned by a Infiniti G37 at a 4 way intersection. The Infiniti had both a stop sign and a flashing red. It happened so fast I only caught the G37 out of the corner of my eye. I'm ok just shaken up and sore. The X1 not so much. I'll see today if the X1 is total loss. I've only had the X1 since March.

Sorry to hear what happened. Vehicle is replaceable, not your life. Hope things work out for you.

Sorry to hear this. As was said, your car can be replaced, it's you that's important. Be sure to have a physician monitoring and keeping a record of your health.

Must have been pretty scary as the Lexus came straight into your drivers side door

Glad to hear the X1 did it’s ‘job’ and that you are not seriously injured

Nice to hear everybody is just fine.

Make sure to get to a hospital to make sure no injuries will arise, and let your insurance know your medical report.

Hope everything works out ok, bud

Oooh...sorry to hear this, but that you're OK. As others have said, get yourself fully checked out — shock disguises some injuries.

Looks like the passive safety features of the X1 protected as well as we would hope.

I was really impressed that this X1 did it's job protecting me. The Infiniti did nothing to protect it's driver. The airbags did not deploy.

I didn't even see it until the last minute. He had a flashing red light and stop sign so he is at fault.

Yeah I had a similar accident in my E70, but the guy came out of a side street near my house into my rear passenger door and shunted me across into oncoming traffic. All I remember is a face full of airbag! When it deflated I was on the opposite side of the road and went head on into one of my neighbors who was traveling in the opposite direction.

I remember getting out of the car just totally confused as to what had happened... and looked back at my X5 which was totally destroyed.

Getting a medical check up is important, it wasn’t until later that evening that the burns from the airbag and whiplash became evident

Really? I though your photo showed the curtain airbag deployed?

On the X1 yes - but not, as mentioned, on the Infinity

What sucks is the driver that hit me hasn't even reported the accident to his insurance. So that means repairs or total loss is on hold. His insurance company told me that he needs either report the accident or wait for the police report.

Don't worry about it. You have a police report and pictures. He had flashing red light. His insurance company is aware and gives him x number of days to report accident else his insurance company will proceed with claim. His non reporting is admission of guilt. You should be able to proceed getting your car fixed bc your insurance company pays first to make repairs and will go after other insurance company for repayment.
Be sure to get only OEM BMW parts and go through a BMW dealer for repair if not totaled, so BMW can guarantee work and specs. His insurance company should also pay for car rentals you will need.

Don't really worrying about it. I work for a large BMW dealer that has a collision center so it will be getting genuine BMW parts.

So after almost a month later the insurance company decided that my X1 is repairable. Fingers crossed.
