Final Check of Rims/Tires before purchase, please help.

Hello all! I’ve been reading and reading for about a week now trying to get a handle on how to choose aftermarket wheels and tires for my 2006 325i w/sports package. I plan to order within the week but wanted to get some feedback from you guys to make sure I’m getting decent items and especially, that everything will fit and look correct.

Rims:
Alt Wheels Miro Type 346 M6 Replica’s from www.modbargins.com
link
Size: 18x8.0
Offset: ET38
Price: $187.00/wheel

Tires:
Kumho ECSTA ASX from www.tirerack.com
link
Ultra High Performance All-Season (I live in Cleveland )
Size: 225/40WR18
Price: $87.00/tire (+$40 s/h for all 4)

Spacers from www.rogueengineering.com (for rear only):
link

Please let me know if you see any issues with this setup before I buy it!

Thanks!

I decided to go with the same tire all the way around and use spacers in the back rather then going with a staggered set up. From what I've read, it seems fairly common because it allows you to rotate your tires. Is this true?

yes. if you are going to do this then you should at least go with 235 40 18 all around.

I purchased some Miro wheels (M5 reps) and the quality was toilet. It just didn't look good like an OEM wheel. I'm sure for $650 a set, they are good value - but you get what you pay for. My advice, go with a name brand. The ASA AR1's are a great starting point, and not much more expensive.

I fear you'll get what you pay for. Know what I mean?

And ditto on the 235 all around.

Odd, I saw some M6 Reps on 8t's car and I thought they looked great!

8t's Car

I'd love to get a more quality rim but I can't find a company, besides Miro, that makes this style. (And the OEM version from an M6 doesn't fit an E90)

I like the look as well.

Every time I end up going cheap on things, I end up having to upgrade later. Maybe I'm wrong in this case. I'd love for you to get them and reports back with long-term, glowing reviews.

It just sounds risky. Cheap wheels, cheap tires, and compromising spacers = ???

Hey everyone,

I appreciate your honest replies within this thread. However, replica wheels are not always low quality. At **********s, we personally inspect all of our wheels for quality before we consider selling them. We are well known for our replica CSL wheels, which have a great reputation and sell very well.

This new M6 wheel is a very high quality wheel. It is also very light at only 22.0 lbs. If you want 19", both 19x8.5" and 19x9.5" will be available in about 2 months. We are currently taking deposits for those setups.

If you have any questions about quality/durability please feel free to e-mail me mike************.com - you can also e-mail me to discuss pricing on the 19" version, which will come in more appropriate offsets for the E90 (no spacers required)

According to the fitment guide on your site, these wheels are not set up to fit on the E90 anway. The 346 style wheels (these wheels) are not listed as one of the wheel types for the E90.

Yes sir you are correct. Right now the 18x8" M6 wheel is only available in the 38 offset, which without rear spacers won't look the best on the E90. But from what I have noticed, nearly all wheels on the market right now recommend or require spacers for E90 fitments. Since your car is so new, very few if any wheel manufacturers will make cast wheels specifically for an E90 fitment (which from what I have noticed needs about a 28 rear offset).

ah frank, i am in the same boat as you. i started my own posts, but didnt get that much feedback so i searched today. i also saw 8t's post and was going to go with the 18x8 miro m6 wheels, all-season tires at 235/40, and 15mm spacer rear. seems as tho 8t has many followers. it was almost a sure thing until i found out it came in 19 inch too. if u dont want to wait on the 19's, DTM Autowerkes has em on their ebaymotors site. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/19-BM...9077QQtcZphoto

i have a question, does staggered setup really make a difference performance-wise? or does it just look better from the rear with wide tires.

You'll have more understeer with the staggered setup.

Why do you want 8" wheels with higher offset anyway? It makes your car look worse than the 17" stock ones (stuck in more). I put 8.5"x18 wheels with 38mm offset all around and 235/40 tires in order to rotate them, but I think I've made the bad decision. My rear wheels look tucked in so much that I even want 20-mm spacers for them. But what the hell, I'll going for 8.5"x19 35mm, 9.5"x19 30mm staggered next month and forget about spacers. The nice thing about staggered wheels that you will get much wider wheels in the back to make up for the high offset, so your car ends up more aggressive from the rear even w/o spacers. Look at mine below:
