Front seat belt adjustment ( or lack of it )
I have an issue with the height of the front seat belts when my wife is a passenger or driving inasmuch the seat belt is incorrectly positioned and rubbing against the side of her neck.
Re positioning the seats doesnt seem to make noticeable difference, the problem is basically the seat belt top hanger is too high. On previous cars i have owned this top mount point could be slid up or down to accomodate different heights ( body length ) of people. Have any of you had a similar or the same problem and if so have you found a suitable belt adjuster bit of kit to help reposition the belt to a more comfortable point? Thanks |

My wife has the same issue - she uses a Halfords Leopard Print Seat Belt Pad like this : http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car...-seat-belt-pad
Does not cure the problem and gets in the way sometimes but better than the rubbing seat belt |

It’s shocking for a “quality car” not to have height adjustment for the seatbelt.
Both my wife and I find it annoying.... she’s 5’4” and I’m 6’7” and the belt catches us both on the neck. So for anything more than popping to the Village for a newspaper we use seatbelt clips (available from Amazon etc) and these stop the belt constantly reeling in but will not have enough grip to stop the seatbelt pretensioners from doing their job in case of accident. |

Bought the same items as Bill_P from
Halfords and they seem to have sorted the problem. Belt still close to throat but comfort much improved by having the padding there instead of the raw belt edge. |

#me too
One nagging problem still remains: the way the shoulder portion of the seatbelt saws against my neck because the mounting point is too high. But I think I've found an "el-cheapo" solution: seatbelt adjuster clips. Although, I did have to add a piece of heat-shrink tubing to the rotating retaining bar of the clip to grip the slick webbing better.

I recently bought an old 2001 Peugeot 206 as a run-around for £650. It has height-adjustable seat belts... BMW were very tight not to provide this on the X1.
