Carbon Roof as a standard feature

Hey guys

I am waiting to finally be able to order my M2C in Spain and I have been in contact with a few dealers.

I asked if they have any information regarding the carbon fiber roof (and other M Performance options) since its one of the things I really want and the information the sales guy just gave me ("El techo de Carbono va a venir de serie, lo único es que si quieres ponerle techo solar quitarían el techo de carbono") is that the M2C will come with the carbon fiber roof by default...

I am 90% sure that he has no clue what he is talking about but does anyone got similar information?

The sales person you spoke to doesn't have a clue. The CF roof is not standard on the M2c. BMW offers it as a performance part that is installed afterwards. It will cost you extra.

Yeah.. they don't know anything. I had one last week tell me they've only sold a few this year. As in already in owners hands sold. Not in the order bank.

Does the roof have to be cut from the chassis on these cars? If so that’s a hard pass as unless it’s done perfectly it will leak.

I also read on here that Performance Parts will not be available until November 2018 builds. Not sure how accurate this is or not.

No way in hell I'd have a dealer attempt to install a CF roof. Mine, a BMW certified body shop, couldn't even get the CF spoiler correct after 5 tries!

Yep - I had the same trouble with the spoiler. It’s not centered and the morons scratched the back of the boot lid putting it on.

I want the CF roof badly...but not that badly.

Nothing to do with the car builds, November is simply when some of the performance parts will be available.

Carbon fibre emphasises the car’s sporty visual appeal.
Additional lightweight parts made of high-grade carbon fibre save additional weight. The newly developed M Performance bonnet made of carbon fibre with partially visible varnished carbon fibre is not only a real eyecatcher; this is also the first time the BMW M2 Competition boasts a powerdome. This engine hood reduces the load on the front axle by approximately nine kilograms, too. Truly stunning looks are achieved in combination with the M Performance vehicle roof in carbon fibre, which is also made of visible varnished carbon fibre (approx. 5 kg weight saving) and the M Performance tailgate in carbon fibre (approx. 6 kg weight saving, both available from 11/2018). In addition to featuring partially visible varnished carbon fibre on the outside, the inside of the tailgate is completely made of visible carbon fibre, which makes for spectacular loading and unloading. The M Performance front side panel in carbon fibre at the front, left/right with integrated air outlets made of visible carbon fibre (available from 11/2018) reduces weight even more.

It's reassuring to know that (some of) the dealers in Spain are just as incompetent and moronic as the ones in the States :P

A free carbon fiber roof at that price point = #WishfulThinking.

You're going have to pay extra for for that ish.. Which is understandable.

If that dealer is going to offer it as standard, I would buy my M2C somewhere else...

this!

Three tries for me at my dealership, they even told me this would get a local expert to do it. I did a way better job myself on an older car

From what I've read, it's suppose to be a port install and even that scares the crap out of me. Ideally it should come from the factory that way
