Noob question about spacers (ASA AR1)
Hi all,
I was wondering if you guys could help me. I bought 4 ASA Ar1's for my e90 335i on stock non-zsp suspension they are 18x8 all around with a +40 mm offset (I also bought 4 general exclaim uhp tires 225/40ZR18 ) Now, from reading around the forum, i was told that since the offset is so high compared to stock (40 vs 34), i might need wheel spacers... All i know so far is that the wheels and tires i bought will fit my car..however it might look funny. I mean, how badly would it look if it is only 5 mm more pushed in that stock? ( i am happy with the way the stock style 159's look). If I am unhappy though, i can buy spacers, correct? What kind of spacers would i need on the back and front, 5 mm all around? also, who can install spacers? any wheel/tire shop? also, does my car need to be aligned again after adding spacers? I plan on getting an alignment after getting all 4 of these new wheels and tires put on. should i just buy spacers too, and wait to get everything put on, then get the car aligned? an FYI for everyone, i didnt buy the smaller offset wheels because i would have to wait until august for them to come in stock..... Thanks in advance everyone! |

the spacers just go on the hub before the wheel is put on, its pretty simple. You may need longer bolts. If you dont mind the look without them, then dont bother. Spacers are pretty cheap though so if you were considering getting them, then i'd say buy them and put them on before your alignment. Im not sure if they'll throw off alignment but it doesnt make sense to pay for it twice so just do it the first time.
and yes you can probably just do 5mm all around since you're running the same wheel. |

people tend to steer away from 10mm but yes i was going to say, lookwise, that would be perfect IMO. But don't take my word for it, i would keep bumping this or research until you can get an O.K. from a vendor or someone that knows a bit more about spacers. I would also be interested in knowing

10mm shouldn't represent any issue for you at all... if you get a quality spacer kit that comes with longer lug bolts you'll be fine!! If you need a spacer kit give Hubert a call at 714 632-1951 he'll set you up!!
