ATF BMW / Lifeguard / Vaico

Anyone changing their ATF & Filter at or around 50K? (ZF 8-sp)
.
Any thoughts on the different fluids available and the range of cost?
.
I decided to go mi-range with ZF Plan & Lifeguard 8 Fluid.

July 4 is the plan using my Scan tool for reading temps -- should be fun.

.

Cheers!

Lifeguard 8

http://www.thectsc.com/

I found this site and they seem to be supported by 2addicts -- Looks as though they support ZF Lifeguard over other various brand X meeting the necessary spec.

I would say that this would be similar to an oil meeting LL-01 but of the LL-01 oils -- some are good and some are much better.

I would like to think that Lifeguard 8 is one of the best for our ZF 8 transmission.

Parts on the way from FCP EURO. (although I find their packaging sub-par)

I've used them before with my E90. Very helpful. I'll use them again for my 235 in a few years.
Lifeguard only is my opinion and CTSC agrees

I went with Redline D4 in my 6MT ZF. I had the stock BMW fluid tested that had just about 70K miles on it and Blackstone had good things to say. It's in another thread. The fluid is different in the 6MT versus the 8spd but it's what came in the car from the beginning. I'm pretty confident that the 8 SPD fluid won't be too far off what mine was. I drive my car hard and drive it daily so that you know what usage there has been on the stock fluid. My shifts are smoother with the Redline fluid for sure.

Redline - Excellent

In my E90 335i 6MT - I used the BMW Fluid at 50k but Redline at 100k.

Did find the shifts were smother with the Redline.

My thoughts are that the BMW fluid is made to last a long time but does not produce the smoothest possible shifts.

While the Redline performs really well but has to be changed more often.

I used this stuff for my ZF8 fluid swap just over 50k. I do alot of track days, and i figured i would just do it. The cost is on par, and it meets all the ZF 8HP45 transmission specifications.
