Is it just me, or is there something seemingly special with this iteration of the M2 (despite the detuned S55 and weight gain)? I'm speaking to (street and track) performance, creature comforts, practicality and design.

I'm sure there will be varying opinions on this, but I haven't been this excited for a car that I'm yet to own.

Yes, chassis and short wheelbase of the M2 paired with the manic torque of the S55 in M4.

Seems like a can’t-miss-combo, IMO.

We shall see as we get reviews and get the cars ourselves.

TBD.

It will be the best of the 2019 M cars. It will be interesting how the reviewers compare it to the 2018 M2.

I think it will depend on what you are looking for in a modern M car. If you want a small, tossible, RWD, MT M, for sure. For lots of M drivers these days, what they want is a fast cruiser - M6, X5M, etc.

What the M2C may be is Ms last RWD, MT (available) car.

Yep, this car is a keeper!

Just a little disappointed it only holds 19 inch wheels and it doesn't have an adaptive suspension option..

All M cars ARE going AWD but still I believe they will always be an entry-level manual M car; the demand is still there and BMW is not one to miss out on market share..

My question is will it even be the best in 2020 or will they put the S58 into the next year M2C screwing us all? That is the BMW way these days.

Who knows, probably. The big question is, will the next gen 2 series grow in size? I bet it does.

I'm going to the Porsche camp after the M2C.

The real question no one is asking: Which sounds worse the 4cyl turbo in the new Boxster/Cayman or the S55?

Let's not start an S55 sound debate in this thread please.

Maybe, but they may also kill the manual. If that'll be the case, I don't care if they put the next S8033 into the M2, I still won't buy it if I can't row my own gears.

I don't like it at all. Had it in my X1. I hate the basketball feel. It almost has me reconsidering my order lol.

I had a 2015 X1, the leather in my M2 felt very different. -- The M2's leather was smoother to the touch than the X1's. imho

The leather in M2 feels exactly the same as in my X1. It's a big downgrade from Merino leather all other M cars have. That was one of the deal breakers for me
