Fuel sensor recall

So FINALLY, since original order in March, my car was delivered to dealership last night and pickup is scheduled for 11am tomorrow. HOWEVER, my salesman just called me all upset and said they can't deliver the car to me w/ a recall on it! He's hoping a fix is in place in the am, but as of now, no fix in place. BMW just released this recall 5pm last night.
Others get this notice yet or I might be the first, since I was taking a delivery tomorrow.

Whoa, does this mean all M5s are getting a physical fuel pump replacement, or just the software update we already know about?

All I know is that it's sensor related and that it was just issued by BMW last night at 5pm EST. As of yet, no remedy presented by BMW, but salesman "pretty" confident they should have resolved right away. My issue, is that if it's part related, I'll have to wait till part obtained to take delivery. BMW cannot release a car for delivery that's under recall.

It's a physical-parts related issue - they need to get a replacement part from BMW, could take up to two weeks to get.. super pissed as I also was supposed to get delivery today and my car arrived at the dealer yesterday

Yeah, really blows. I was beginning to think I was maybe being misled and some other dealer issue arose, like damage and they were afraid to tell me. Lol
Two weeks!!!!

So this a new recall? Not simply the "fuel software" revision one that went into effect last Friday (but was known about for quite some time)?

Just got an update from BMW Corporate - we're looking at potentially 4 weeks - part hasn't finished development, and then it'll go into Production then ship to US, all in could take 4 weeks

I wonder when the rest of us will get a call. It's my DD, so not an option to just garage it until the part is available.

I was just told all cars produced on/before 6/25 are impacted. My car is at the VPC and was expected to complete the work order today but it's now been delayed to 7/19. I'm told everything is moving quickly and that the parts are readily available so it shouldn't take took long.

Can we move these recall posts to some hidden back page so I don't get heartburn every time I log on to this site?

Let's hope what you were told is the truth otherwise I would imagine a huge backlog of cars awaiting assembly and shipping.

Do you have your car yet?!
I've been waiting since March and on the eve of pickup, I'm given this news!

From my dealer, dam Friday the 13th!!!.

"Upon writing up the RO for the 2018 BMW M5 yesterday for delivery on Friday July 13th, 2018 – there is a stop sale recall listed. The recall is SIB160718: Fuel Level Sensor. There is no remedy for this yet as per BMW N/A. BMW N/A anticipates the update with the recall remedy "shortly" so I will keep you all posted and I will be checking the remedy status daily. Please be advised that this vehicle may not be allowed to be delivered until BMW N/A releases a remedy. Thank you.

Best Regards,
RPR Coordinator"

I have been driving it for two months.

Had a little fun with an RS7 today. He could not keep up. LOL. Could not or would not who knows. As I entered the highway I saw home coming up on my left. He goosed it so I did too. LOL.

Called the 800 number and your info is spot on. Fuel level sensor is defective. No replacement part exists. Not sure when. I’ll just keep topping my tank off until it’s resolved.

So I’m not the only one having this issue? Been getting these error messages on and off since I got the car. Never brought it to the dealer since it would go away after a few days

Interesting. So I have not seen any errors, and the gauge seems spot on when compared to mpg and needing to fill up. I guess only some fail, while others are fine? I just had the fuel pump software patched at my 1200 mile service! ARRGHHH!!

Got scheduled my break-in service for tuesday and today got call saying the car service will take few more hours as they got recall for fuel pump. Guy told me
something specifically about fuel lines. Their demo m5 is taken out of service as they say it's "dangerous" lol. Anyway they were sure it can be done on tuesday
