Nice! But I guess what I was actually asking is how does this Connected Drive interface in the vehicle interface with your home? Does it connect via Alexa to control your lamps/thermostat/etc? Or does it require some other type of home automation product? We currently use a Nexia bridge for all our connected devices (works great!). So will the BMW be able to connect to Alexa or Nexia for home automation while out driving?

Connects via Smart things.

Darn. Hopefully BMW will add additional functionality to support more home automation hubs. Not everyone has a Samsung SmartThings hub or feel like switching.
