19 vs 20 inch wheels
Maybe I'm crazy but i like the look of the 19inch wheels over the 20's. i like that you can see more of the brake caliper. Is there a real difference in ride quality between them or is it negligible?

I have the 19” and ordered it that way.
I have grown to really like the look more than the 20” The higher sidewall looks more meaty like an old school muscle car. Ride is fantastic. I was coming from 20”on a ‘16 650GC, and this is so much better. I’ve read that the contact patch and handling are virtually identical to the 20”. |

Its all relative, depends on how you like your car to feel. IMO.
Big rims skinny tires, Harsh ride, better cornering, etc. We all know this. More cushion, more pushing. I'll just leave it at that with out going into into specific rides and there attributes, and or faults, due to rim/tires setups. IMO, its a personal thing. |

The 19's look better to me too. I haven't driven the 19's so I can't give you a comparison, but in my other cars there is always a small but noticeable difference in compliance with less wheel. It isn't a game changer, but I am always a little surprised by how the ride is a bit harsher when I switch from my smaller winter rims to my summers. That being said, the m5 I test drove had 20's and in comfort, I thought the ride was very compliant. If I didn't order a comp pack, I would have spec'd the 19's.

I liked the looks of the 19's in pictures, and one of my pleasant surprises, was that they look even better in person. I have no complaints with the Yokohama tires either, and running them at 33 lbs. all around, gives me a compliant ride, along with no push in the corners.

I don't like the 20s but I love the 19s. I had a Singapore grey rental on 19s and it looked just completely perfect!
Besides this, you'll have 1/2 inch of rubber more to cushion high frequency noises. Adding to the overall composure of the ride. |

In places with very occasional slow, like Vancouver BC/Seattle, is it really necessary to get 19 inch wheels for winter? What about applying something like these over the existing 20 inch wheels?
