I heard the M Perf coilovers are pretty poor in comparison to other options. Is that true?

KW is the manufacturer, so they can't be that bad.

I didn't really mean in quality, just performance.

If they are KW v1 equivalents, I get it.

Not sure, haven’t looked too much into the Mperf coilovers to be honest. The V3 run about the same price, $2300. I’m more into Ohlins Road & Track, they are worth the extra $700.

My local dealership told me 1400 and v3 map is typically 2700 range

I'll have to see what they actually quoted me for lol

I think it depends on your intentions. M Performance coilovers are track focused, so the ride quality is not what people seem to get with Ohlins. The only issue with Ohlins R&T is the frequent rebuilds they recommend. A bit much for street use IMO.

30,000km interval for the Ohlins. Does anybody know the service interval of the M-Performance coils?

Do note if you get your m perf coilovers installed by a dealership (can be expensive, but they may throw in some other installations for free if you do them at the same time) they will respect the warranty. I believe the warranty applies for the duration of the new car warranty or 2-3 years outside warranty if you bought it later.

One of my shocks was leaking and they replaced it no problem. And you can pick up a set of m perf coilovers for ~2k hardware included so it's actually cheaper than the KW equivalent.

I think it's definitely worth it for track use. The car feels extremely planted and there's no wheel hopping some people have reported on the stock suspension. The only downside is that it can be quite stiff on the street, but that's to be expected.

I know the spring rates are stiffer, but softening the dampers doesn’t help?

I am not a suspension expert, but my understanding from physics / calculus is that there is going to be a spring and damper combination that results in a setup that is a slightly underdamped system, which appears to be what you want for a non-race-car.

http://www.kaztechnologies.com/wp-co...m-Kasprzak.pdf

I would have thought a critically damped system would be ideal but I'll defer to experts.

I don't know why we have to result to blind mix / match of "knob clicks" and random spring rates to guess at a setup. Too bad there isn't a more data driven approach taken by most tuners.

They don't even publish one that I know of.

There are two ways to interpret it. Either the KW parts are more durable, or Ohlins is conservative and being honest about how long they will keep their top performance.

I’ve had coilovers on a couple cars. Actually found that they offered a more compliant ride over bumps, less jarring. Good know that the Mperf suspension feels stiffer that stock suspension.

Don't know, but with my yearly mileage, I am not going to have the Ohlins revised every year. M-Perf it is for me.

Yes it will help. I got used to my track setting on the street so I don't bother switching
