Scuba divers?
Just wanted to see how many divers in the group? It's my addiction. I dive every chance I get. I've done most spots around FL, Bahamas, and Bonaire.
My favorite part is diving with sharks. Who else had the addiction? First 2 pics are in Bonaire and the bottom is on the Vandenberg in Key West. |

My wife and I used to dive...we have small kids now...
We certified in Monterey CA, we dove all around Maui, Cozumel, and in the Caribbean a bit. I look forward to doing it again some day. |

I've been a recreational diver since 1990, when I got my PADI certification through a freshman-year course I took to fulfill part of my undergrad core curriculum. I also dive whenever I can, typically on vacation in the Caribbean or Hawaii, and even after all these years, my love of diving hasn't diminished in the slightest.
I've been to pretty much all of the Caribbean hot spots, including the Stuart Cove shark feeding dive in the Bahamas and stingray dives in Grand Cayman. One of my all-time favorite dives was a night shore-entry in Hawaii, just me and the local divemaster, drove out to the beach in his pickup and put our gear on sitting on the tailgate. So cool. Most recently, I fell in love with the relatively unspoiled waters around Roatan. Needless to say, the Great Barrier Reef is on my bucket list, but I'd also like to dive in Thailand, Cabo San Lucas and the Red Sea. |

Great pics!
Did a lot of diving in college (like JamesWWIII, certified in college) and immediately after. Then came career and kids so I got away from it. Empty nesting now so need to get back to it! Used to go to the Keys a couple times a year with a group of college buddies. Also did some spring/cave diving in Florida.

Just out of curiosity, are there any divers here who have done a live-aboard?
I've always thought they sounded like a lot of fun, but have never made the decision to bite the bullet and try one. |

I did an inexpensive one called Blackbeard. Went with a group from my local dive shop and we had an amazing time. doing it again next summer. many of my friends have done aggressors and they have always had a great time. aggressors are the very nice ones. blackbeard is like camping with your buddies.

I saw a nurse shark while snorkeling in the Virgin Islands. Hangin' under a rock. Pretty cool.

I was certified with Naui (?) at Southwest Texas State (now Texas State). I loved diving in the San Marcos river. And I also dived in Jamaica (Montego Bay).
Then my step mom threw away all my gear, and then I had a family. How hard is it to get recertified? |

You can do a refresher. They can always look up your certification, it doesn’t expire.

PADI Open Water certified here. Got certified a few years back for a trip to Australia. Had to make a stop at the Great Barrier Reef to dive it (before it's all gone) and I'm glad we did. I used to keep saltwater aquariums so it was so cool seeing all those fish & coral in their natural habitat. We didn't see a lot of big fish (sharks, rays, etc) but saw plenty of smaller fish. Few turtles too.
Haven't used it since though as we haven't gone anywhere tropical recently. Bucket list is to dive with sharks. I would love to go to Tiger Beach in the Bahamas and dive with tigers. Diving with a whale shark or manta rays is for sure up there too.

Bonaire is probably my favorite this side of the globe...here's a few of mine from there Hilma Hooker, turtle, fish bowl Galopogos, swam with sharks, sea lions, and penguins. Penguin pic added Last edited by ShopVac; 09-06-2018 at 08:59 PM.. |

Some of the best diving i've done has been in the great lakes. Specifically Lake Huron.
Other than that, all of my diving has been in the Mediterranean. Can't go wrong with that! |

I have had my PADI open water certification since June 1988. Sadly I am land locked and haven't had a tank on in way too many years.
