buying a used 335i????
I been looking to get a 335i coupe for a while now and finally found a used 2008 335i coupe on my local porsche dealership, the car has about 11k miles on it, brand new msrp at 47k and is selling for about $39k.
The salesman took me out on the test drive and being a porsche dealer he was very aggressive with the car and pretty much showed me what the car was capable off, didnt really want that happening to a car I might be buying but I guess atleast I know the car runs, brakes, and handles well. Now I never purchased a used car before much less a used bmw. Im really hesitant because Im worried about the previous history of any used car and its future reliability..what do you guys think? |

He took you for a test drive? Did you drive it?
Run the VIN through BMW Service to see the service record.

Check if it has the extended warranty. You want a BMW with the extended 100,000 mile warranty and it's totally transferrable if you decide to sell it in a few years. Make sure all the bells and whistles that you want come with that car. For that type of cash you should be getting exactly what you want and there's always another car out there that's available. The 335 is an awesome car...good luck

Make sure you double check all of the options it has... As with any other German car, BMW's will get expensive quickly the more boxes you check off.
Go to BMWUSA.com and see if you can configure the same car and see what price it comes out to.

Like the others said, you should be able to go $37-38K for it. If you're able to, drive it for yourself.
For comparison, a few months ago I picked up an '07 335i coupe w/ 9K miles (premium, sport, PDC) for $38K. I was a noob in that I didn't really negotiate at all, but I did some research and it seemed like a decent price. |

yes I drove it right after he did, I didnt take it to the limits like the salesman did but the car did feel very strong, clutch was light, the shifter was a little sloppy but Im used to honda/acura manual trannies.
it is not a CPO since its from a porsche dealership. they had a copy of the window sticker of the car so thats where i got the $47k msrp brand new from. I havent negotiated on the price yet for I can probably take another $1k or 2 off $39k. The reason Im so worried about buying a used bmw is cause I previously test drove a 4dr 335i at carmax on sale for $37k... the car drove like crap compared to this one, engine wasnt as smooth, smell of oil under the hood, and didnt handle has good either. |

In 2001, I bought a used 1997 328i with 50k miles. This car performed flawlessly for 90,000 additional miles. The only issue I ever had with it were the automatic window control arm kept breaking in the winter. This was my fault because I would attempt to roll down the window when frozen shut. I just sold it a few days ago. I think if you take good care of the car, it should last for a long time. I say go for it!

Not bad of a deal...but make sure you drive it yourself before actually buying it...you'll never know what the car hides unless you drive it and have a feel for it yourself
