Luxury Seating Package Thoughts
Does anyone have experience with the luxury seating package? Do the seats really cool you down and how's the massage? Wondering if it's a worthwhile package. Sounds great, but what's the reality... Thanks!

I have the heated/cooled multi contour seats on my 2014 X5 , wasn’t called luxury seating package then, and I have never liked it for two reasons. First, the cooling really doesn’t amount to much, imo... can barely feel it. Second, I assume, but I’m not positive, that if you get the cooling feature you get perforated leather, which I do not like at all. The G05 comes with heated seats standard, and I bought the multi contour option, and I think all you get with the luxury seating is the cooling which doesn’t work well.. and perforated seats ... somebody correct me if I’m wrong on this.

I've had the cooling on last three X5s. It is subtle. Works well on long trips. Also works well after Crossfit - that when I can feel it the most because it helps accelerate the evaporation quite a bit. Of course, I live in the Deep South where it is 90 during the "Fall"....

Cooling is ambient air only, no added AC. it’s not stellar, but it does help. G05 also has massaging seats. F15 did not have this available. You might have to ask/search in the 5er forum for opinions. FWIW, I’ll be getting this package.

I personally hate the current “luxury seats” and traded an X5 in because of them. Should have listened to my sales guy. The cooling really does nothing and the seats are uncomfortable on the butt. The F15 forums have threads on the seats. Hopefully the new ones are much, much better.

Thank you guys for the feedback, thoughts and tips. Very helpful! I went ton a dealer training on Friday and they didn't have these seats so no opportunity to test them out.

You could also see if they have a 7er or 5er with luxury seating option - same seats.

I was Planning on taking the extended merino + luxury seating combo [which includes massaging seats and ventilation]. Someone else mentioned that the need to add support for air blowers reduces available space for cushioning - this makes sense to me, would be nice if someone can compare and confirm. Looks like the standard seats have reasonable support via an extended front section for better thigh support. For me leather and summer heat (esp here in Texas) aren't that great a combo- and I tend to sweat fairly easily -so to avoid having my shirt stick to the back, I was counting on the vented seats [ambient air temp ok as long as there is reasonable air flow], but seat comfort is a higher priority. One can always set the AC to Max and use Remote Start to pre-cool the car as a work-around I guess .... |

FWIW, the luxury seats I tried out in a 6er GT were fantastic. My wife has some neuropathy and couldn't feel the massage function, but it was heaven for me. Liked the ventilation too. This is a must-have for me in my next Bimmer.
