No v12 for you

Well this just sucks. Just add some dead weight in its boot and let the v12 pullllllllll. Ugh

----------------
BMW Group vice president of product management Carsten Groeber who provided a perfectly logical explanation for the 8 Series’ V12’s absence.

“V12 is very heavy and we have a very perfect weight distribution with this car. So the package with the V8 with those technologies with the chassis and the drivetrain makes the car a proper sports car. In our opinion a V12 will be too heavy in the front,” said Groeber.

The difference between the two engines is hard to figure out due to the massive increase in specs on an M760Li compared to a 750Li. However there is 60kg extra with BMW's 4wd system across the 740 and 750 models and the shortblock is only 40kg different - I can't see that the ancillaries would be massively different to suppor the different engine.

Give me a 2wd M860i with anything other than the ZF8 and I'll be stoked A transaxle DCT would help offset the weight increase on the front as well

Well you tell him lol.
I want awd as I'll drive it in the winter here. Mind you I drive my rwd e92 m3 here just fine in winter. It's great, just can't use it on heavy snow days. As it's a snow plow. Would be nice if m8 could be electronically raised a couple inches.

This is a huge disappointment. Between BMW watering down the looks of the concept, no V12, and even a lack of a premium audio option (e.g. B&O), I'm beginning to wonder if there's any reason to upgrade from my 650 GC.

Premium audio from Bowers & Wilkins available from November(Germany) on The 8 and X5.
