Just wanted to share some pics and urge anyone with a radar who doesn't have this done to spend the $25.

No reason to deal with wires or ever touch my unit unless parking in a sketchy area at a sketchy time which happens very rarely for me.

Took all of 20 minutes total, taking my time. Plenty of write ups on here but here is the most important part:

Red mirror tap into 12v Switched (brown/green wire on car)

Black mirror tap into Ground (brown/black wire on car)

In round numbers:

mirror tap $15

mount* $10

*custom R1 metal mount with 3M tape from eBay

Anyone with programming tips/recommendations - please let me know.

Im actually amazed at how advanced top tier radars are these days!

Just rolling with stock settings at this point... and obviously the manual pushing of City/Highway and Mute.

I have a R3. It is wired to the mirror like yours but mine is on the left of the mirror.
Here are some tips to program it:

To make sure I am protected, the radar detector is always ON and I am running Waze in BMW CarPlay.

Thanks for the response!

I was sure exactly where to mount it and may move it in time but so far so good.

We'll see if I get any passenger complaints...
