iPhone X iOS 12.1 and '14 F30 NBT NAV Bluetooth Issue
Hi Everyone,
Newbie here - I'm hoping that I'm able to find some help on the forums! After upgrading my iPhone to the latest software, I noticed that the Bluetooth started sounding odd. At one moment, the audio will sound perfectly fine. The next, the highs in the audio will sound muffled for about 30-60 seconds and then go back to normal. The issue doesn't exist when it is plugged in directly over USB. I've tried YouTube, Deezer, Spotify, Waze w/ Spotify, Apple Music and it's consistent across apps. I recently upgraded to iOS 12.1, so maybe that is a contributing factor here? Looks like others are having similar issues across car manufacturers as well. Unfortunately, I don't have another Bluetooth device to test with that isn't an Apple Product. https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS...2/td-p/4572223 Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Details 2014 328i NBT NAV HiFi (Latest Firmware) iPhone X 12.1 Bluetooth connection |

My 8+ connects but I get no audio over Bluetooth, been playing around with it for the last few days. I’m also on 12.1 but I’ve just this minute upgraded to 12.1.1. Another issue is that I used be able to get Waze to play through the phone speaker but take/make calls via Bluetooth, this no longer works and Waze no longer remembers that I had set it to audio through the phone speaker. Waze always now starts and diverts the audio to Bluetooth but I get no audio at all.

When you connect, does it give you an option to select your telephone 1/2 and audio? I had to check the top telephone 1 box and audio box for mine to work.

Telephone 1 is selected, will have to recheck the audio though I’m sure I’ve stared at that screen many times.

Have a look in the coding section, you might be able to code it yourself? |

I've now upgraded my 8plus to 12.1.2 and still can't get audio to work over bluetooth. I've checked within options and I have Telephone 1 and Audio ticked.

Same thing, Plagued with issues. My amazon music app now causes errors and won't work properly.
I ended up unpairing and repairing and hard reseting my phone and it seemed to make things ok for the time being. 2015 335i NBT Nav |

Not entirely relevant, however since upgrading my iPhone 7 to a XS the initial startup connection time has more than doubled. By the time the initial burp note of the exhaust was finished being loud it would’ve continued playing.
Same operating system on the device. Will update to see what happens. 12.1.1 at the moment. Now it takes 30+ seconds, slower than a aftermarket stereo I had fitted in my previous hatchback! 2014 - EntryNav |

I had the same problem. Unpairing and repairing plus upgrading iDrive software via USB (downloaded from BMW site) helped. It's not clear if step one or two resolved the problem.
Plus my navigation occasionally froze and defrosted with maps moving again. The dealer reprogrammed the vehicle bringing the software level to the latest version. This specific step is all or nothing proposition. All control modules - including NBT head unit - will be reprogrammed. |

I've had this issue since the beta for iOS12, and it is absolutely the phone+iOS combo. How do I know this? I've tried every single solution you could imagine. I've gotten 2 replacements straight from Apple.
The first one I upgraded to iOS12 immediately and found that I had the same issue whether I restored the phone or started new The second one I kept it at iOS11 and have had no issues for months. Today I decided to say fuck it and I upgraded that phone to iOS12, setup as new phone, didn't install any apps or even restore my messages/photos. Heard the issue within 5 minutes of driving. I am going to try everything I can think of, but it definitely seems to be an issue with ONLY the iPhone X and iOS12. I have an iPhone 6S on iOS12 and it works fine. I still need to try it on an XS. I just pray that the 11 doesn't have this issue. |
