Hi,

I'm getting my E90 next month and I'm planning to lower it down and put a set of HARTGE CLASSIC 18". I want my car to have more aggressive look not like a racing car. I guess I'm too old to feel the every single bump on the road.

I'm thinking of getting a set of Bilstein suspension kit ( not coilover one), is it a good match?

If no, which brand is the best spring and shocks on the market?

You know you're getting quality if you go with Bilstein suspension. In two of my cars (including my current one) I've used a set of matched Bilstein Shocks and H&R Springs and it was an awesome combination. When it's available, Turnermotorsports (www.turnermotorsport.com) will have a package of Bilstein shocks / H&R springs for sale.

I wasn't aware that Bilstein already had shocks out for the E90?

If it's looks you're going for, lowering springs will take care of that (without having to also swap out the shocks, although be aware that the stock shocks will wear out faster than normal if you just swap out the springs to lowering springs). KW Suspensions offer Springs kit for the E90 as well. They also offer Coilover kits.

Thank you for your help.

Bilstein hasn't launched the shocks yet but the shop that I called said they will be out on September.

I have 3 choices now for the lowering springs.......Bilstein, Eibach and H&R......They are all three of the best among lowering springs manufacturers. I never have any experience with any of those.

Since you recommend H&R..........I think it's a good choice to go

Good choice, can't go wrong with any of these big brands really... just depends on which give you lowering you want. Also, make sure the sprnigs are progressive, it'll give you a better ride.

you really can't go wrong with any of these springs, but like coco said, progressive springs are easier on your butt, and your shocks, so a set from eibach will be more comfortable and your shocks will last longer. H&R springs will wear out the standard shocks faster and are better suited if you plan on combining them with aftermarket shocks

Lowering the car's stance means stiffer springs, which means a stiffer ride. The 330i sport package is plenty stiff IMO (although not as stiff as the stock E36 M3's ride). Good luck with that.

how does eibach ride? does those kill the stock shocks fast also?

From my experience, eibach is stiff and hard but gives you a really good ride for performance. H&R is more comfy and bouncy. :P

The ACS springs are made by Eibach, to ACS' specs.

They lower the E90 about 1" in the front, and .75" in the rear from SPORT suspension. There is no difference in ride quality. It feels identical to the sport suspension.

The drop is not very aggressive, but it does even the car out. The ACS springs for the E90 are available.
