New job makes me appreciate car more
Just ranting for a second..
My position at work was eliminated, and they were good enough to move me instead of fire me. But the new job is basically paper pushing; I'll be a "powerpoint engineer" as we call it, and spend days on teleconferences. I have to supervise engineers, without doing any real engineering. All I know is, it makes me look forward to getting in my car at the end of the day even more! Yesterday, after all the b.s., the engine start button and exhaust note were still able to put a smile on my face. Not to mention those twin turbos! Back to your regularly scheduled e90post.

Its always nice to read about someone appreciating rather than bitching about something. After 5 months I still love every time I get to drive my car

I feel you on that. I definitely appreciate things after all the crazy stuff I have gone through in the last year. People generally don't realize how good they have it until it is gone or something else bad happens in their life.

Here is my situation. I no longer can make what i was making last year, and my mom can no longer afford to help me out when I can't.
Therefor, I have no 335i anymore, which means I appreciate it that much more when ever I am around one. Especially considering the car I'm riding in. 335i is soo crisp and sooo sooo ergonomic and sound.

Going on business trips and having to drive rental cars all the time, I still love it when I get into my car, get a whiff of the BMW leather smell (we get so used to it we fail to notice it anymore), hit the start button and listen to the exhaust note of those tiny turbos. It gets to me everytime.

I agree
I agree. Some days pushing that button and hearing that initial exhaust note just puts a smile on my face. But there are other days, I wish I had more goodies like rims, M-tech front, Procede, etc.
Overall, I love the car and I came from a Cayman S. This car does pretty much everything the Cayman did except more refined for daily driving. And the fact that it has all the gizmos too. |

LOL I must be one of those glass empty guys, I'd b**** about that, because the job is the bread and butter which allows for the car. They gave me a dead-weight guy to manage, he makes like xxk more than I do, and does nothing all day. You know, son of the partner deal. But my problem is he looks so bad that others grumble about him. Nobody wants to deal with him so give it to the young guy and let him be his manager. No thanks but what can I do? My car doesn't change the situation in any way.

Uggh...my job is the same, I HATE teleconferences man...there's always some guy that just want to hear himself talk. Sometimes I just want to say "STFU SO I CAN GET OFF THE PHONE" but I don't lol...thank god for the mute button. You seem to have a better outlook on your job than I do, ever see the movie Wanted? The opening monologue explained EXACTLY how I've been feeling recently..

Same here. I remembered how it was having to leave work to a moded GTI and wasn't in the mood for rumbling and droning noise. It feels much better to come into a comfortable and quiet environment and in the process if I need to do a little spirited driving, the car roars when it is in action.

Yes I do drive a better car than my boss..... he's got a Volvo V70 - like most people here in Gothenburg... home of Volvo - I made my decision to have BMW because I wanted to be different - + the car is a lot better to drive as well..... Well his face when he saw my car for the first time...... GREEN with envy - and it was a few questions about how could I have a non Volvo car..... and a better car than him...... Oh boy that went down like the proverbial lead baloon - Hate to think how he will react when the new '09 one comes
