iDrive screen blank on start up

Sometimes I'll start my car and idrive screen will just be black and no buttons work. Can remedy by holding the power button for 15 secs. Why is this happening!?!?

Does this happen when you turn the screen off by pressing the button before switching off?

If so this would be normal I believe.

I did not consider this. I'll test it and check but I would still expect to be able to control the screen and just the media be muted.
