Vibrating brakes?

Hi. Sometimes at speeds above 60 km / h, there will be vibrations when I hit the brake. Not always. Is it the brake discs or something else. The car has rolled 65,000 km. The brake discs were replaced at 35,000 km. The car is X3 2.0D automatic 2015.

It is likely related to the rotors, yes. Sometimes they are actually warped, often they have uneven pad deposits on them. They are cast iron and they pick up a little material from the brake pads in normal use, and sometimes that doesn't go down uniformly.

Read up about bed-in procedures for brakes, find a safe place and give it a try. It will likely take care of things and if not at least it didn't cost anything. Next up would be time to have a look at the rotors themselves.

Thanks. I have nerver heard about bed in procdure of brake. But I know, breaking really hard will heat up the rotors and can cause problem with the rotors. I will get that one a try next weekend.

The idea is to do some heavy braking, to get things warmed up and cleaned off (in very simple terms). But not so hot as to cause a new problem (actual warping).

Take your finger and when the brakes are cold run your finger up and down the rotor, if you feel some wavy pattern, they are warped, thus causing vibration. If rotors are fairly new, you can just turn them, if the rotor lip is starting to show, than you'd need to replace them.

warped rotors are pretty uncommon occurrence. I'd put my money on irregular buildup of pad material deposited on rotor surface, more common cause.
