Stupid Nav Question

Sorry for asking this stupid question but 2 weeks in the new car, coupled with my forum searches, have left me without an answer. Thanks for your help:

Driving through Maine, which has a whole lot of ponds, streams, etc., my nav map showed the names of virtually every body of water, down to the smallest. Stupidly so; no exageration. That's not the problem, though: The problem is that it shows virtually no town names. Seriously, it only shows the names of cities and a few large towns. Adjusting the zoom in and out doesn't solve the problem. Yes, it cuts out the littlest ponds, but it doesn't do anything to display town names.

Am I missing something?

One last question: Is there a good FAQ source for the Nav system? For iDrive?
