M850i xDrive Gear Selector

I went to the Montreal Auto Show and sat in the new 8 Series, and then I noticed that the gear selector looked just amazing! It's almost like a piece of jewelry! Is it made of glass or something more exotic? Or plastic? Is it stock or an optional extra? I would like to know!

That is an extra cost option - glass selectors for the gear box, start button, volume control and iDrive dial. Goes for $650.

Thank you for replying! 650$ for something this beautiful in a car that expensive, well worth it if you ask me!

I agree. If I had ordered mine, I absolutely would have included those controls. I bought my M850 off the showroom floor and those controls were one of the few options not on that car, but I'm asking the dealer to determine if it can order the parts and make an aftermarket install.

Did you order the iDrive knob as well? That gear stick is wonderful and maybe the best in the whole industry!

Hi. Yes, I am trying to get them to order the entire set - all four parts. Gear stick, iDrive knob, start button and volume control. They're not exactly top flight over there, but they owe me a solid, so...thoughts and prayers.
