Better half comes in the door saying the drivers side panel is missing again...that’s the second drivers side...we have also lost one on the passenger side. Until last night, I thought they may have been stolen...at 80 bucks Canadian each...

All previously replaced by BMW.

She had just come from a touchless car wash...so thought take a look, you never know.

Broken part found blown against wall in car wash bay.

These things are total Chinese junk... the tabs are absolutely crap.

I doubt that the dealer will replace under our CPO warranty which has just kicked in.

In Europe they have side indicator lights in that spot... I ordered two and expect them to be far more robust....

Anyone else had these come off at a car wash or elsewhere?

Never had mine come off before. But I better check again once I get home as I just used the car wash this past Friday. Had the car for 5.5years and never came off before. Also this is the first I've ever heard of them coming off. Maybe use some super sting double tape when you order new ones?

I guess the weather 10 hours north is a bit harder on cheap plastic...

I do plan on covering them in future when she goes through the wash with tape...I just put this busted one back on with 3m....not the greatest time at -15C

From year 2015 there is no side indicator in the fenders, not in Europe. Side indicators are placed in the side mirrors.

Oas, Gotcha...if they fall off again, the lights above are going in as filler...I doubt there is a connector to hook them up either way in our vehicle.

Same for the Canadian/US market, the LCI in 2015 moved them from the fenders to the mirrors.

AS you replace the base, clean fender and put a small bead of silicone caulk
around, and very close to the hole edge in fender. Then the same around the base and lense.
This will reduce vibration, and water intrusion around both.

To make the caulk fill and smooth out so you can barely see it.
Apply caulk then spray with window cleaner, you finger or plastic tool will
glide easily over the silicone. You can apply painters tape too ....if needed for sharp edges

Sorry this has to be done when area applied is warm !
Also needs to dry.
