Updated AvinUSA 10.25 Android 8.1 installation DIY

Hey yall!

**UPDATE - please disregard the microphone adaptor I added, the mistake was correctly pointed out, and when I did the install the blue fakra plug on the adaptor threw me just by color and didn't pay enough attention**

I see the original installation thread is still going STRONG, but wanted to share my latest install video for the new Android 8.1 display. I swapped out for the latest model, and while the install is essentially the same, I thought it might be a good place to keep conversation about the 8.1 update.

Any questions give me a shout!

Hi,

thanks for Your nice video but in 17:55s "blue fakra connector" is a GPS Aerial not Head Microphone.
Why U not connect auxiliary kable to the aux input in arm?

Thanks
Grzegorz

You are correct, I pulled the wrong one. DANG IT! I will post up a correction. The blue plug threw me when I did it and didn't pay enough attention to catch that. Thank you.

I dont have to run the AUX cable, I am one of the lucky folks that dont have to do it.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
1. Does 8.1 has a new main board or just new processor replaced (like 4.4 vs 7.1)? I wonder if they fixed horrible sound quality issues.
2. Does it support USB audio?
3. Can it connect to external BT audio adapter (the one you would plug into aux, combox or NBT BT)? I am referring to A2DP stream to bypass crappy audio. Neither 7.1 nor 4.4 supported this.

In my opinion 7.1 was a step backwards. More issues than with Android 4.4. I have yet to see someone gain full root access. Eventcenter.apk closing apps in background is super annoying though thankfully someone figured out how to kill this process via adb root.
If the answer is No to all 3 questions then I am keeping my modified Android 4.4. I had to swap a bunch of components to improve audio quality.

Great questions, I will see what I can find out.

Thank you.
I haven't seen anyone posting pictures without the back cover yet. It would be interesting to se if they are using the same board like in 4.4 and 7.1.

yes.. hotspot your phone.. I considered getting a mobile hotspot and hardwiring into the car, but haven't done so yet at least.
