Anyone planning on getting aftermarket wheels?

My 40i came with 21" 741M wheels and I've been debating if I'm going to upgrade wheels or not. I am thinking about going with black wheels because I like the look.

21" tire choices seem to be really limited but I'm not convinced I want to step up to a 22" wheel/tire combo or step down to a 20" fitment.

I have mostly looked on Tirerack and a few other online retailers.
For example, I like the look of the 21" Savini BM14 in gloss black, which would be a direct bolt on and I could reuse my existing tires.

I also like the 22" Asanti Black Label ABL-13 and ABL-20.

Please post pics if you have upgraded your wheels (non winter setups).

Thanks!

I might get a set of 20" wheels for the same reason, no tire options for the 21". I was thinking about going OEM or a quality aftermarket set ie HRE, BBS, Vorsteiner since all offer TÜV certified wheels

You mean the wheels I've considered but haven't purchased?

Interested as well.

Not much available, but the wheels have the same bolt pattern and offset as Audi wheels. Do they work?

If they have the same offset, center bore, bolt pattern etc then why are you asking they will work? I'm a little confused

How is it different ? Most of the wheels in that thread is 20" black as op were interested in. Doesn't matter what tires they got on.

22" option would be Asanti ABL-20

Asanti ABL-13

Asanti ABL-11

I like the overall wheel design but I really dislike the carbon fiber inserts...which I think can be removed.

I haven't heard good things about Savini wheels, another member on here had an X3 M40i. His Savini wheels had balancing issues, finish issues etc

I have seen the style that you like from many brands. Let's consider Rohana brand as a choice since they are sub brand from BBS but cheaper (the guy in rohana told me that) and they are rotary forged wheel the weight for 22" is quite impressive, ligther than stock 20" OEM 740M wheel. The material is good. I tried to change the center wheel cap to BMW but cant take it out with wheel on finally have to broke it so I know that it made from good quality aluminium and I decided to keep the original cap as is. Have to order center cap 1 piece 40$ from the company. You can visit their site at rohanawheels.com I don't have a good pictures of this wheel yet but if you zoom closely you will see the different in detail at the wheel compare to another brand. Rohana will send me the pictures with the wheel on my car after they finished photoshop and put in their website so we can see good pictures from there.

That's good info. I searched the G01 forum and read the posts regarding the issues. I looks like it was primarily a problem with the vendor that sold the wheels. I didn't find anything regarding balancing issues? Do you have a thread link for that?

Thanks.

I know the member (he lives in Texas too) so I wasn't sure if he posted that. we talked via text a lot so I could share just that excerpt if you'd like or you can DM him.

edit: I spoke with HRE, they have no vehicle to scan for their wheel fitment yet but will sometime soon. They're my first choice depending on what options they give us. I'm not buying 3 piece forged wheels for my X5 because it's not worth the $8-11k. I'm looking to spend $5-6k at most because it's not a track vehicle

I'd like some real confirmation on whether or not BBS makes them or not. Those aren't TUV certified + there's no detail on their manufacturing process so I personally wouldn't buy them.

They both use a 5x112 bolt pattern and the Audi center bore is 66.5mm vs BMW 66.6mm. So, it looks like the wheels should bolt on if the offsets are correct.
