I thought those of us in Canada would be interested in this update.

BMWCCA recently changed the rules of the rebate program in the US to allow people who join for 3 years to apply.

In Canada, the existing rules still apply whereby you have to have had a membership of a BMW Clubs of Canada chapter for at least a year to be eligible for the rebate.

In Ontario, the Trillium chapter, was for a time advertising the same rules as BMWCCA, however they have now been terminated and are no longer a sanctioned BMW Club. As such, they no longer have any discount program and have lost the right to even use “BMW” in their name.

I note on the Trillium club website that they state they are still offering the same discounts but through affiliation with BMWCCA.

It's a good thing I got my rebate 2 weeks ago before the change. Now that I have a 3 year membership I'll over a year or so when my daughter is ready for her new car.

I'm glad I reacted when I did. I appreciated the 2%.

Actually, to be qualified for future discounts, we will need to join another chapter as trillium is no longer part of the club.

It still says on there website that you get the discount but now you have to be a member for one year.IMO it isn’t up to the other Canadian chapters if trillium is able to offer the discount.It is up to BMW Canada.

This is terrible. I just sent an email to the President. So any future 2% discounts on new BMWs are gone? Did we lose the 20% discount on parts at Pfaff and Parkview?

Who knows. I'm confused now..but hey, at least for the 3 year fee we paid, we got a good discount. I have no issue switching chapters at some point in the future.

For accessory discount, some dealers offer 15-20% off of you purchase from them regardless if ur a club member or not.

I'm pretty disappointed as I missed out living in BC. BMW Canada aren't interested in helping and neither is the Car Club.

Basically you guys were lucky as Trillium took your money for 3 years and then told BMW Canada you had met the criteria to be eligible for the rebate (1 year membership) so they approved it.
