My dealer finally got a demo car in last night. Just took a drive in a 40i Msport with 22" 755m's . It was a fantastic drive. Heads and shoulders above my F15 35i. Plenty of power(much more than I thought it would be), super smooth and quiet. My F15 comfort seats feel like I'm sitting on bricks compared to those,The massage is amazing. Back seat had plenty of room. Didn't have too much time so didn't bother with the 3rd row(I'll never be back there anyway)Hopefully mine gets out of quality check and ships next week. Can't wait

This guy is high on something to claim the 40i is adequate engine wise. The interior is hideous, but it's ordered spec. :

I'm new to the SUV market. Would an Escalade be a fair comparison to this? Which one would you guys get?

The fact that the interior is almost identical to G05 disappoints me (not to say that the G05 interior isn't amazing). Imo the X7 interior should be a clear class above the X5 interior

I mean for a little 6 cylinder, 0-60 in 5.3 seconds isn't too shabby lol... Will be interesting to see what it does once they stuff an M motor in there

I heard rumblings of a possible X7M from BMW employees this past week in Arjeplog, Sweden. However, didn't spot any test mules of X7M (was on the grounds of the BMW Winter Test Center). The X7 M50 V8 will be interesting, as a vehicle this size requires a V8.

Really? This reminds me of a preppy mobile... have the designers in Munich or Newbury Park lost their way? Thankfully I am not in the market for anything this big... but as a BMW owner many times over, I do find it troubling.

notice how from shoulder POV , viewer cannot see revmeter. a decade behind MBUX at the very least. so much empty space in the middle which only option is to have black & white navigation or nothing there. haha pitiful for a BMW flagship

more voices need to be heard on this pos design so they can wake the fuck up smell the coffee, we need sliding sun visors too. if the x7 doesn't have that then you know fuk em

The wrinkles in the seats are intentional, and more pronounced with Vernasca Leather than they are with Merino. This is the case with the X5 and X7.

With the F15 X5, one of the frequent comments was that the rear seats aren't too comfortable, where people would say they don't have enough give in them when you sit down and you don't sink into the seats much until the leather wears in. Vernasca Leather is a bit softer than Dakota, but to alleviate the comfort concerns, they intentionally leave some excess material in there when stitching so when you go to sit in it, you sit more IN the seat than you would if the leather was stretched tighter.

Form follows function here. It might not look gorgeous to everyone's eyes, but it's functional and absolutely does result in a more comfortable seat.

You notice them much less with Merino Leather because the leather is naturally much softer, so there's less of a need to allow that extra room when stitching the seat covers.

Sure, but you're not driving from shoulder POV, are you? If you're sitting remotely upright, you can see everything clear as day.

Good review. Couple things
1) is the height adjuster knob standard or only on off road package?
2) what’s the turning radius like? Online, it shows as a few feet wider than even qx80/escalade. Can’t imagine that’s true

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I’ve always always always opted v8 when given the choice but v8s are no longer necessary with 6s having the power curve these engines now do. Plus the 6 is 250 lb lighter with better weight distribution.

As it stands today, it certainly is. You can get the LED sky-roof, Alcantara headliner, power rear sunshades and full leather on the X7 which you can't get on the X5 right now. At least not in the US...

Other than the full leather these features are small differences. Even the full leather is not that far off from the extended leather as they both still use Merino.

The premier series (X7 and 7) should have their own interior design in my opinion compared to the mid-level 5 and X5 series counterparts

Yep, the wrinkles are there. Not as bad as some, but it is obviously a design element.
