BMW Genius Help by Telephone
I'm trying to avoid the 3 hour round trip back to my dealer for a follow up Genius session. He was unable to activate my profile and set up my Digital Card at delivery. I am not having any other issues with the car so I was considering calling the Genius number to see if they can assist me in setting up my profile and getting me set up in BMW Connected. I have an account and I can see the X5 in my account. Is this a good idea and what information do I need to have when I call the Genius telephone number? Thanks.

I'm sure they could help you but you can probably do it by yourself. Just switch to the guest profile and then back to your profile. It should prompt you to log in, enter your username/email and password for your connected account and you should be good to go.

Correct, in the car. Mine wasn't running when I did it to clear up my login. You can already log in from your phone and the web site, correct? Every time you start your car does it ask for a login or mention that you are not logged in?

Yes I can login from my phone. I've never seen any reminder when I start the vehicle.
I also still see the vehicle I traded when I login as well as the X5.

First, setup your bmw connected account from your computer. Note the password you create. Second, go to your X5 and delete any profiles that are currently installed. Third, create a new profile on your X5 using the email address and password from step 1.

Thanks. I'll give it a try tomorrow unless I have to pull it out if the garage. Having a snowstorm and will be busy clearing sidewalks and driveway. Will I be using satellite signal or cellular network?

If you don't get asked to log in and can't find the login page you probably want to call them before deleting the profile unless you don't have any settings saved or career about the settings you have saved. Here is a video on creating a profile in case you have to. |

That is great, then it should be a pretty straightforward process. Just follow the steps in the video and you should be good to go in a few minutes.

Yes, once you have your profile in there you can associate your key and digital key with the profile. I'm not sure if it shows the digital key on the video or not, haven't watched it but these steps should do it.

SUCCESS! I successfully created my profile, activated my digital key card, rebooted iDrive and updated my apps. Now have weather and news apps. All is well. Thanks to Turtleboy and others for their help. Also tried Remote Start. Works perfectly. Tried turning off engine with fob and it did not work.
