Daylight Savings?

Did anyone's car adjust to Daylight Savings this AM? When I got in the car, the clock was still an hour behind. Checked settings, and automatic adjustment was selected. Deselected it and selected it, still nothing. Drove for a bit, same thing. Ended up adjusting it manually.

Past X5s always adjusted before I even got to the car.

My E70 used to - until they changed the dates where DLS occurred and then I had to manually change. Haven’t checked my G05 yet

Mine didn't switch over either. But when I went to the settings, deselected the automatic update, and re selected it the time switched over.

I realize I may have got my order of operations out of order. It's possible I didn't deselect automatic update and reselect until I had already adjusted the time. Cant' recall. Glad that fixed it. Annoying it had to be done, though.

The question is how often the iDrive gets its refreshed signal to change the time? It may take 20 minutes of driving.

Wouldn’t be surprising if the software jockeys at BMW couldn’t figure out how to do this automatically. Their demonstrated proficiency at software development thus far has been disappointing to put it nicely.

Explain this, please.

I was always frustrated that when driving across time zones in consecutive days that my F15 did not adjust automatically. I had hoped that iDrive 7 would be a better day.

I will not drive my G05 until the morning so will monitor this thread to see if a consensus emerges.

The iDrive gets refreshed signals to constantly update the weather, news, etc... Same should apply to the time via your GPS location.

There seems like there is a necessary distinction between regularly updated activities, such as weather and news, and a twice a year event that BMW knows is coming. I get that they need to set regular update periods for more regularly updated data but DST should be pushed out at 3am on the exact day to every car or it should be programmed in from the get go, like my $12 alarm clock. No contemporary smart phone has any trouble with this. Can't believe BMW blew this one. Bugs, I get. That's just part of the growing pains of a new OS in a new car with new hardware and the need to move quickly. DST is a pretty well-known thing and it seems like a clear oversight. Again, my E70s and F15 all did this correctly, like my phone and every other even partially smart device in my house.

I can confirm that mine did not change automatically despite my G05 being set to do so automatically. Drove for an hour, no change - I'm leaving it to see if it eventually changes.

To BMW: Your developers are absolute f'ing morons. The list of basic sh!t you can't get right in iDrive does not cease to amaze.

Check it by setting the time wrong and see if it corrects it.

We drove from SC to California and had to change clock manually even though the clock was set to automatic.

I love the car but I still scratch my head over these little things that should just be a given at this point.

Okay, that's absurd. WTF, BMW?

Both our g30 and g05 failed to update dst this morning. Our Honda/acruras did this perfectly twice a year. However, going to the time and date and then clicking the box for automatic time setting fixed them both. I agree this should be fully automatic. Our 9 year old Honda Pilot did this automatically even when crossing time zones.

I came from Lexus and although their electronics gets derided for being outdated and clunky, it was reliable and all of the functions worked perfectly. Clocks auto adjusted, bluetooth always worked like they should, the parking sensors and blind side worked, and the door handle sensors for unlocking/locking the doors always worked. If you have your phone near the BMW fob the doors will refuse to open. It's super sensitive to any interference. BMW wins for the ride quality though. My X5 has amazing ride quality and I like the styling of BMW much more than Lexus nowadays, but I do miss some of the engineering thoroughness that is a hallmark of Japanese brands.

Just checked mine and I didn’t have auto time update checked. As soon as I did, it changed. I didn’t notice on my last trip because I drove up and down the same time zone on the east coast. Weather would update automatically as we were moving.

that's odd, mine was checked but it didn't update so I unchecked it and manually set the time

You could try unchecking it, setting the time back then recheck it and see if it auto changes to the correct time.

I'll try that and take a video just in case
