So live cockpit (and ID7) are not going to be available on the X3/4 M until April 2020 production. I don't think I care about that tech but what does everyone else think? Also, any significant resale implications 5 years down the road?

I'm doing an early order so it doesn't bother me to have ID6. I'm already used to it in my X30i. With HUD I don't look at the dash screen very much. That being said I feel like it's significantly better than ID4 in my M3.

From what I see ID7 with live cockpit looks more advanced and has an extra parking feature and other things I'm not able to recall but I'm not patient enough to wait.

Tough to speculate whether five years in the future if a 2020 X3 M with ID7 would be worth more than a 2020 X3 M with ID6 to an average buyer. But doubtful it would be significant as condition and miles would be the major pricing factors.

It's unlikely they will change the dash to the new ones in 3 series, 8 series and X5. For the 2020 7 refresh it got ID7 and the new live cockpit instrument cluster but not the new shifter console.

First pic is from 2020 7 refresh and the second from the 2019 3

I'm waiting even though I could careless about the feature it would bug me that I had a dated vehicle by not waiting a few months.

I have cars with both 6 & 7 idrive versions. I prefer ID6 for its simplicity... ID6 is more elegant than the whole trying to be a cellphone with all different types of widgets. Plus I have never had to restart my car or reset ID6 because it went out of wack. I can't say that for ID7. I'm sure I will come around to the new version... when they get the all the glitches ironed out.

Yeah looks kind of cool but very gimmicky. I don't get the dual tach. That will just confuse the eyes. Knowing this is coming may give more ammo to discounts on pre-April production cars.

I get it and always want the best new technology but with HUD I don't look down very much.

According to motortalk forum should iDrive 7 now appear in the dealers configurator. I'm currently checking with mine, if this is true.

BMW unveiled today the M5 "35 years edition", and it is getting it.

strangely there are 2 versions of the officials pictures released today, one version with Idrive 7 and another with Idrive 6.

And probably somewhere on the world one person laughing behind his computer because of his Photoshop job he did... It's a little bit late for an april's fool.

Several dealers have confirmed, that Live Cockpit Professional is now available in their ordering system for the X3. SOP is summer 2019.

What really sucks is that Android Auto will be available on idrive 7 cars only. The natural language capabilities of idrive 6 is no where close to what's available free in every other car through android auto. I recently upgraded from a hyundai, and while i love my bimmer,i do miss being able to dictate navigation commands via voice during the middle of a drive. Used to work flawlessly with across android auto, is hit or miss with the bimmer. Really wish bmw come up with an option to retrofit idrive6 with android auto for a reasonable fee (line what mazda have done).

Hoping they will look at recalibrating the comfort setting on the adaptive suspension for the refresh? One can hope.

That is a regular X3. Not an X3M, which is the case for 2020.

Yes sir, for the M40i. Assuming the setup would be similar excluding the shifter

Top reason for me why I did not pursue the X3M was due to the outdated ID6 dash. Even though the BMW ID7 is not as customization like the Mercedes MBUX digital dash I still prefer it and like I already mentioned it was #1 reason for me to go the M40i route.

Certainly a personal preference! Many of us, much prefer the ID6 and its old-school analog look, and chose to order now, for just that reason.

With either dash setup, let's agree, the X3M is a beast for us all to enjoy, regardless of display preference!

(I do hope the wait is worth it for you... you'll want to get behind the wheel ASAP!!!)

I wanted the latest tech, but I didn’t even test drive the M40i as I was happy with the performance of the X3Mc and didn’t want to get less.

I’m sure it is a great car/SAV though for a ton less money.
